LANCASTER, Pa. - The Dickinson College women's track reset two school records and had an overall solid to sit in second-place with one more day to go at the Centennial Conference Championships hosted by Franklin and Marshall College.
Sprints
Dickinson put four athletes on the track for the 60m qualifiers with
Erin Olsavsky being the lone Devil to earn a place in tomorrow's final with a time of 7.98. The trio of
Emily Chaine,
Maddie Kyle and
Catarina Acosta occupied 15th (8.35), 18th (8.37) and 21st (8.85). When hurdles were added to the distance the pair of
Annie Leder and
Leah Biwott locked up spots in the final with fourth (9.26) and fifth (9.47) place results. Leder's time was also good to set the new DC record for the event.
Sylvie McMaken-Marsh and
Lily Cusa landed in 14th (10.29) and 15th (10.32).
Distance
Myra Naqvi earned a Top-10 slot in the 5000m as her time of 18:45.93 was good for ninth, while
Maddie Garber was just a little outside the pace claiming 12th at 19:22.68.
Breanna Franchak (14th - 19:30.98),
Meghan Higgins-Haas (16th - 19:33.18) and
Abby Duffy (17th - 19:50.17) all competed in the race as well.
Relays
The Red and White opened the relays up with bang as the 4x200m team of
Maddie Brown,
Abbe Kitchin, Chaine and Olsavsky won the event with a 1:46.27. In the 4x800m,
Elizabeth Barbash,
Sophia Kovalski,
Marley Kurey and
Amiyah Priebe earned fourth by hitting the line in 9:44.34. The distance medley crew of Kitchin, Kurey, Naqvi and Priebe finished off the podium with a 12:35.11.
Field
The Devils sent three out to compete in the weight throw as
Damien Labrada earned fifth with a toss of 14.32m, followed by
Jenna Deep in eighth at 13.88m and
Sarah Glickson (15th - 10.21m).
Lily Swain and McMaken-Marsh did battle in the pole vault taking sixth (3.17m) and 14th (2.87m) respectively.Â
At the jump pit, Leder earned silver during the triple jump with a leap of 11.09m.
Special Event
Biwott set the new Dickinson school record for the pentathlon with a total of 3092 points. During the event she claimed a pair of wins in the long jump (5.30m) and 800m (2:35.17), while taking second for the 60m hurdles (9.53).
Next on the Track
The Red Devils return to action tomorrow when they head back to Franklin and Marshall College for Day Two of the Centennial Conference Championship.
