2022-23 McAndrews Award Winners: Meg Tate (Women's Soccer) and Chris Brandau (Men's Lacrosse)

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson College Athletic Department would like to recognize the recipients of the McAndrews Award for the 2022-2023 academic year in graduated students Chris Brandau and Meg Tate. The McAndrews Award honors the top performing senior athlete at Dickinson and is voted on by the coaches and administrators.
Brandau, the native of Timonium, Maryland, was an outstanding player for the back-to-back Centennial Conference Champion men's lacrosse program posting a 17-4 record in 21 starts with a .540 save percentage to go along with a 9.08 goals against average between the pipes for the Red and White. The All-American selection notched double-digit saves in nine games, which included a 17-stop output on the road in a 12-7 win over then sixth-ranked Gettysburg. The Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Year also recorded 22 saves during the conference tournament en route to being named the Tournament Most Valuable Player.as the Devils claimed the title. In the NCAA Tournament, Brandau backstopped the Red and White all the way to the quarterfinals making 29 stops along the way.
His head coach Dave Webster said this about his goalie "Chris made an immediate impact with our program after transferring into Dickinson as a junior. He quickly adjusted to his new team and helped us with 36 games and a pair of conference titles in his two seasons. He was not only a tremendous goalie for our team, but was a superb representative of what it means to be a Dickinson Athlete. I could not be more happier for him to receive this great honor."
Tate, the native of Carlisle, was a phenomenal player for the women's soccer program during her entire Dickinson career, but especially last season earning Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Year honors after leading the team in both goals (11) and points (29), while starting all 19 matches for the Devils. She recorded four multi-goal games on the season posting braces against Mount Aloysius (Sept. 1), Ursinus (Sept. 24), Muhlenberg (Oct. 4) and Swarthmore (Oct. 22). Tate was also a key contributor in helping the Red and White to make it all the to the Centennial Conference Championship match against the top-seed and top team in the nation Johns Hopkins University. She ended her season by being recognized by United Soccer Coaches as a Second Team All-Region selection.
Her head coach Ted Zingman offered these thoughts about Tate "Meg made a huge and immediate impact on the program. From scoring 20 goals, being named CC Rookie of the Year and pushing the team to a Sweet 16 berth to earning CC Offensive Player of the Year and leading us to a CC Final as a senior, Meg was always a dynamic force in the attack. However, beyond her impressive stats and incredible goals, Meg was a leader and someone who embodied the Dickinson Women's Soccer core values of selflessness and relentlessness. As a two-time team captain, she was instrumental in leading the team through the very difficult COVID years and helping us rise back towards the top of the conference. I could not be prouder of her."
