Dickinson Hall of Fame Class of 2025 announcement 1-17-25

Now let's get to know a little bit more about each member of our Dickinson Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2025! 

Brian Cannon - Men's Lacrosse

Hear from Red Devils men's lacrosse head coach Dave Webster as he inducts his former player Brian Cannon Class of 2014 into the Dickinson Athletics Hall of Fame.

Cannon, was a two-time USILA All-American selection as well as a four-time All-Conference honoree for the Red Devils during a run of three consecutive Centennial Conference championships from 2011 (first-ever in program history) to 2013. The 2013 USILA Division III Attackman of the Year tallied 68 points thanks to 48 goals and 20 helpers during an 18-1 campaign that saw the team advance to the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals. He graduated as one of the best attackmen in Dickinson history holding the school records for career points with 226 as well as ranking second in both goals (134) and assists (92). Cannon was also strong in the classroom earning a place on the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll as well as a recognition as a USILA Scholar All-American during the 2014 season.

Adam Honig - Men's Basketball

Hear from Men's Basketball Head Coach Alan Seretti as he inducts Adam Honig Class of 2014 into the Dickinson Athletics Hall of Fame.

Honig, was a vital piece of a magical run for the Red Devils men's basketball program from 2011 to 2014 which saw the Red and White finish above the .500 mark all four seasons, including three trips to the Centennial Conference title game. The 1000-plus point scorer was a four-time All-Centennial Conference honoree with a pair of First Team recognitions. In 2014, he helped lead the Red Devils to a phenomenal 24-7 season, including 15 conference wins that culminated with a conference title win and a trek all the way to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. He left the school with the records for career three-pointers made with 204 and single-season points (492), while ranking inside the Top-5 for career points (2nd – 1515), career free throws made (4th – 335) and career assists (4th – 282).

Lesley Oot - Women's Lacrosse

Hear from Sunnie Ko Class of 2011 as she inducts Lesley Oot Class of 2006 into the Dickinson Athletics Hall of Fame.

Oot, was an outstanding all-around player for the Red Devils women's lacrosse team from 2003 to 2006. Named a team captain for the 2006 season, Oot was a three-time All-Centennial Conference honoree, while also being named All-Region by the IWLCA as a senior (2006). She also helped the program to a pair of Centennial Conference Tournament berths in 2005 and 2006, which included a trip to the NCAA Tournament during the 2006 season where they posted a win over Springfield College (13-8). At the time of her graduation, she held the school record for draw controls (223), while ranking inside the Top-5 for career points (4th – 163), career assists (2nd – 63), career ground balls (4th – 157) and career caused turnovers (2nd – 77).

Sarah Patterson - Cross Country/Track & Field

Hear from Cross Country Head Coach Don Nichter as he inducts his former athlete Sara Patterson Class of 2014 into the Dickinson Athletics Hall of Fame.

Patterson, participated in both cross country and track & field for the Red and White during her time in Carlisle. On the cross country course, she was a member of four Little Three Championships, four Top-3 Centennial Conference Championship team finishes and four Top-25 team results in the NCAA Championships. As an individual she was a two-time All-Region and one-time All-American honoree. In indoor track, she was named the Centennial Conference Outstanding Track Performer in 2014 after winning the conference title for both the 3000m and 5000m. Outside, Patterson was also tabbed the Centennial Conference Outstanding Track Performer of the Year following wins in the 5000m and 10,000m. She earned All-American status in 2014 with a fourth-place finish for the 10,000m. She left the school holding the outdoor records for the 3000m, 5000m, 10,000m, 4x800m relay and distance medley relay.

Frank Antico - Football (posthumously)

Hear from both David Giordano Class of 1991 and Ron Duska Class of 1989 as they induct Frank Antico Class of 1989 into the Dickinson Athletics Hall of Fame.

Antico was the best four-year starter for the Red and White at cornerback during the Ed Sweeney era. He was responsible for shutting down two-thirds of the field providing the defensive line, linebackers and other defensive backs with the capability to play with the confidence to take some chances and risks knowing that there was an eraser back there to support them at all times. Antico held the respect and admiration of all his teammates. He was the strong and silent type who approached the game with a ferocious intensity that set the tone for the team. He was the team leader that all his teammates tried to live up to and was a key reason that the Red and White became a football power. His final game with the Red Devils was a history maker for Dickinson as he helped the team to defeat Fordham University in the ECAC South Bowl Championship Game. His commitment and pursuit of excellence remained with the program after his graduation as the Red Devils went on to win seven consecutive Centennial Conference crowns.

Pugs Foundation

Hear from Dickinson Board of Trustees Chair Doug Pauls Class of 1980 as he inducts the Pugs Foundation into the Dickinson Athletics Hall of Fame.
 

The Pugs Foundation was established by teammates and friends of Gary "Pugs" Knechtel '80, to honor and uphold his memory. A member of the Red Devils football program, Knechtel was a stalwart lineman who gave wholly and freely for the good of the team who carried that spirit well beyond the gridiron and into his life off the field. After his unfortunate death in 2010 at the age of just 52, his friends joined forces to establish the Pugs Foundation in his honor. The cornerstone of the foundation is the Gary Knechtel '80 Memorial Scholarship, which places a Dickinson education within reach of worthy students in need of financial support. Reflecting on Knechtel's passion for all things Dickinson sports the foundation has also supported renovations to the Dickinson Park Complex, Kline Center and Durden Athletic Training Center.

Joel Quattrone – Athletic Director/Assistant Football Coach

Hear from former Head Football Coach and current Head Men's Golf Coach Darwin Breaux as he inducts former Athletic Director Joel Quattrone into the Dickinson Athletics Hall of Fame.

After 38 years of dedicated and faithful service to Dickinson College, Joel Quattrone announced his retirement from the institution after the 2023-24 school year. In his time at Dickinson, Quattrone served in multiple roles as an instructor and coach for the physical education department as well as working a variety of jobs in the athletic department serving as an assistant athletic director, facilities director, assistant coach (defensive coordinator) for the football team and senior associate director of athletics. Then, in late 2018 after a brief stint as the interim athletic director, Quattrone was appointed as the permanent Athletic Director at Dickinson. Under Quattrone's leadership the athletic programs at Dickinson experienced consistent success, with many programs advancing to conference championship action as well as NCAA Tournament play. The student-athletes continuously got it done both in the classroom and on the field of play boasting an impressive cumulative GPA and earning both conference and NCAA accolades.

Team Recognition | 2012-13 Men's Basketball Team

Hear from Men's Basketball Head Coach Alan Seretti as he inducts the 2012-2013 Red Devils Men's Basketball team into the Dickinson Athletics Hall of Fame.

The 2012-13 men's basketball program was quite the special team under head coach Alan Seretti as they won the Centennial Conference Tournament crown and advanced all the way to the NCAA Tournament Second Round. That team was led by one of this year's Hall of Fame class inductees in Adam Honig who averaged 14.2 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 2.7 apg, and 1.5 spg on a team-high 31.5 minutes played per contest. Gerry Wixted '15 also averaged double-digits, posting 16.5 ppg and hauling in a team-high 6.6 boards per game, while Tucker Landy '14 and Chris Barsanti '13 each netted more than eight per game. That season the Red and White went 21-8 with a strong 13-5 mark in Centennial Conference play. The Red Devils took care of Johns Hopkins in the Centennial Conference Semifinal (73-64); before dominating the host Franklin & Marshall College in the final (64-40). Dickinson, who earned hosting rights took down Marietta College in the NCAA Tournament First Round by a score of 80-65, but were tripped up in the Second Round by Wooster College (80-54). Both Honig and Wixted earned D3Hoops All-Mid Atlantic Region as well as First Team All-Centennial Conference honors. That season the Red and White set the program record for wins with (21) and conference victories (13).
