READING, Pa. - The Dickinson College women's track and field team won eight events on the day, which included winning events at all levels of the meet to claim a team victory at the PLEX Shootout hosted by Alvernia University on Saturday.
Sprints
The 60m hurdles saw a trio of Devils earn Top-10 slots led by
Annie Leder in third with a 9.92, followed by
Sylvie McMaken-Marsh and
Lily Cusa in seventh (10.55) and ninth (10.80) respectively.
Lily Swain fell just out of the Top-10 nabbing 12th at 11.06.
Dickinson's first win came in the 200m courtesy of
Erin Olsavsky and her 26.51, while
Abbe Kitchin,
Maddie Brown and
Emily Chaine landed in fourth (27.75). seventh (27.96) and ninth (28.18).
Maddie Kyle and Swain both claimed Top-20 slots taking 17th (29.06) and 20th (29.35). The trio of Cusa (29.75), McMaken-Marsh (30.08) and
Emma Dice (30.99) all competed as well.
Cusa and Dice took part in the 400m grabbing 14th (1:09.11) and 17th (1:10.56) respectively.
Distance
The Red and White secured another event during the 800m thanks to
Marley Kurey crossing the line in 2:23.60, followed by
Sophia Kovalski in third (2:27.58) and
Amiyah Priebe one spot back at 2:28.40.
Devon Culberson clocked in at 2:42.52 for 22nd.
Dickinson's strong showing in the distance continued in the mile with Priebe winning the event with a 5:26.66, while
Sophia Kovatsis and Culberson joined her in the Top-10 grabbing third (5:31.14) and ninth (5:52.52).
The Devils sent a large group to the track for the 3000m with
Myra Naqvi nabbing third at 10:41.50, followed by
Maddie Garber (8th - 11:14.01) and
Breanna Franchak (9th - 11:17.01). The trio of
Abby Duffy,
Lauren Scott and
Jenna Kerns had a strong showing as well taking up 11th (11:20.71), 18th (12:07.65) and 19th (12:09.21).
Emma VanMeter was also involved in the race hitting the line in 12:39.34 for 23rd.
Elizabeth Barbash was not only the lone DC athlete for the 5000m, but she was also the victor with an 18:36.67.
Relays
The Red and White claimed another win during the 4x200m with the unit of Brown, Chaine, Kitchin and Olsavsky posting a 1:49.73.
They continued to show off dominance by winning the 4x400m thanks to a time of 4:15.78 put up by Brown, Chaine, Kitchin and Kurey.
Field
Leder added another win to the ledger for DC during the long jump by dropping in at 5.28m, while Kyle claimed 10th with a 4.39m, Leder continued to rule the jump pit by winning the triple jump with a leap of 11.18m.
The duo of Swain and McMaken-Marsh did battle in the pole vault with Swain earning ninth (2.70m) and McMaken-Marsh nabbing 14th (2.40m).
Damien Labrada posted a seventh-place result for the weight throw thanks to a toss of 12.74m, while
Catarina Acosta posted a mark of 8.21m for 25th.
Team Scores
The Devils won the meet with 121 points and were joined in the Top-10 by Stevens (84), Elizabethtown (55), Gettysburg (50.5), York Pa. (40), Arcadia (33), Bryn Mawr (32.5), FDU-Florham (31.5), Muhlenberg (31) and West Chester (26.5).
Next on the Track
The Red Devils return to action next Saturday when they head to Lancaster, Pennsylvania to compete in the Blue and White Invite at Franklin & Marshall College starting at 10am.
