WASHINGTON - The Dickinson College women's track and field team got back to competitive action for the first time in the new year on Saturday afternoon taking part in the Cardinal Classic hosted by Catholic University.
Sprints
The duo of
Catarina Acosta and
Emma Dice competed in the 60m taking 46th (8.92) and 52nd (9.29). When hurdles were added to the distance
Leah Biwott posted a tenth-place finish at 9.75, while
Lily Cusa and
Sylvie McMaken-Marsh grabbed 26th (10.87) and 27th (11.10).
Abbe Kitchin was the highest finishing Devil for the 200m claiming 35th at 27.86, followed by Dice in 54th (30.43).
A pair of Dickinson runners earned Top-10 results during the 400m with Kitchin locking up eighth with a 1:02.48 and
Maddie Brown nabbing tenth (1:03.75).
Lily Swain and Cusa also competed posting times of 1:06.21 (13th) and 1:09.52 (16th).
Distance
The duo of
Myra Naqvi and
Marley Kurey ran together in the 800m with both hitting the line at exactly 2:26.29 to tie for 13th, while
Sophia Kovalski grabbed 18th at 2:29.50.
Naqvi and Kovalski returned to the track for the mile run claiming spots 15 and 20 thanks to times of 5:27.04 and 5:37.15 respectively.
Devon Culberson also landed in 29th with a 6:04.61.
Elizabeth Barbash rounded out the Top-5 in the 3000m by hitting the line in 10:34.06.
Rebecca Roberts stayed inside the Top-30 with a 12:07.57 (29th), followed by
Emma VanMeter in 31st (12:51.20).
Maddie Garber and
Breanna Franchak seized seventh (19:11.38) and tenth (19:40.58) for the 5000m.
Jenna Kerns also was involved in the event posting a 20:49.63 for 18th.
Relays
The 4x400m saw the team of Brown, Kitchin, Kurey and Swain take seventh with a 4:14.38, while the other unit of Culberson, Dice, Garber and Kerns earned 16th at 5:00.07.
The Distance Medley group of Max Collins, Jake Solovey, Erdmann and Gross finished in sixth thanks to a 12:16.27.
Field
Three Devils were involved in the shot put with
Damien Labrada being the highest placing DC athlete in seventh with a toss of 10.70m.
Jenna Deep claimed 16th (9.32m) and Biwott dropped in at 8.17m for 24th.
Deep just missed the podium for the weight throw as she finished fourth with a heave of 13.37m. Labrada closed out the Top-20 thanks to a 10.72m, while Acosta earned 22nd (8.16m).
At the jump pit, the pair of Biwott and
Annie Leder took ninth (4.95m) and tenth (4.92m) in the long jump. Leder then went back to the pit for the triple jump and earned ninth after hitting the sand at 10.11m.
Next on the Track
The Red Devils return to action next Saturday when they head to Lancaster, Pennsylvania to compete in the Franklin & Marshall Open starting at 10am.
