PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. - The Dickinson women's lacrosse team used a 9-2 scoring run over the middle two quarters on Monday evening to snap a two-game skid with a 14-6 non-conference victory over Rhodes College at Publix Park.
- The Red and White needed just 58-seconds to take a 1-0 lead as an early yellow card on Molly Heidrick led to Delaney Herbert beating Olivia Wood.
- Devils keeper Peyton VanDorpe notched stops on Anna Erskin and Caroline Kardian, before Carson Cerow picked up an unassisted marker.
- After two straight for Rhodes knotted the score, the duo of Eva Gardner and Marnie Tood each picked up an unassisted goal to give DC a 4-2 edge after one.
- The Lynx tried to trim one off the gap early, but VanDorpe denied Alban Erdle 38-seconds in.
- The Devils would then ride that momentum to a four goal run on strikes for Caroline Cavendish (Herbert assist), Grace Kelly (2) and Jillian McNulty to make it 8-2 with 6:05 to play.
- Anna Samuelson claimed the ensuing draw control for RC allowing Erskine to scamper down the field and fire the ball past VanDorpe to cut it down to 8-3 at the 9:28 mark.
- Each keeper would be called upon once more to make a save, though fortunately for the Red and White Sage Whiteside cashed in one more time stretching the advantage to 9-3 at halftime.
- Ford Hoon went between the pipes for Rhodes to start the frame and immediately was called upon to deny Faith Parker, before Whiteside connected with Jenna Nowland for the finish and a 10-3 edge with 2:42 gone.
- VanDorpe continued to be strong in goal for the Devils shutting down Erdle, which allowed Cavendish to strike twice in a 56-second span extending the gap to 12-3 at the 6:56 mark.
- After Mia Seergae knocked the ball away from Kardian it made its way up to Todd who fed the rock ahead to Meghan McDonald for the 13-3 advantage with 2:04 left.
- Delaney O'Mailey capped off the scoring for the period and stall the Devils rampage making it 13-4 after three.
- Four of the first five shots of the frame belonged to Red and White with VanDorpe denying the lone chance from the Lynx, while Kelly closed out her hat trick at the 6:22 mark (14-4).
