CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's lacrosse team closed out a brutal stretch of three games in a week span on Saturday afternoon by welcoming the 21st-ranked Fords of Haverford College to Biddle Field for a Centennial Conference showdown. The day started off with great excitement as the Red and White honored their nine seniors prior to the opening draw, unfortunately a 10-2 Haverford run over the second and third quarters allowed the Fords to secure a 13-6 win.
- Dickinson keeper Peyton VanDorpe was the busier of the two goalies early as she denied both Ellie Hughes and Tiffany Mikulis within the first five minutes.
- It would actually be the home side that struck first with senior Faith Parker cashing in unassisted past Annie Bravacos.
- However, the visitors had an answer just a little more than a minute later when Bella Gattuso found the back of the net.
- The rest of the frame saw Ali Broome, Izzy Hall and Liv Rizzi each force a turnover, while Bravacos notched stopped against Jenna Nowland and Parker.
- Sage Whiteside recorded the opening chance just 23-seconds in, but missed the target.
- The two sides traded the ensuing six shots with each team finding drastically different results as the trio of Bella Guckes, Grace Kelly and Parker went wide of Bravacos, while the Fords struck on their chances to go ahead 4-1 with 11:02 left.
- Bravacos continued to be strong between the pipes beating away offerings from Caroline Cavendish and Guckes keeping the margin at three at the 9:21 mark.
- Following a foul by Emma Norton, VanDorpe denied Bella Gattuso on a free-position chance which allowed Guckes to find Delaney Herbert for the tally.
- Each goalie collected one more save in the period with Bravacos stopping Mia Seergae and VanDorpe shutting down Brooke Epstein to end the half.
- The visitors came out of the break on fire racking up six goals over a 10:33 span to blow the lead out to 10-2.
- A minute later Eva Gardner found herself in the attacking area and blasted a shot beyond the reach of Bravacos. She then won the ensuing draw control which resulted in Parker getting a shot off, but Bravacos was there.
- The following two Fords possessions ended with turnovers caused by Broome and Hall respectively, before Mikulis solved VanDorpe just prior to the horn sounding making it 11-3 going to the fourth.
- Dickinson opened the frame with a two-goal run with Parker striking at the 2:34 mark, before Meghan McDonald cashed in with 3:42 gone following a stop by VanDorpe on Epstein.
- After Seergae popped the rock free of Natalie Frekko, the ball worked its way over to Herbert for a shot which was stopped by Bravacos.
- That save save resulted in the visitors jumping out 12-5 courtesy of Louisa Coughlin with 9:40 left.
- Mikulis and Whiteside traded markers in a 30-second span about three minutes later leaving the score at 13-6 still with more than six minutes to play.
