ARLINGTON, Va. - The Dickinson men's soccer team used second-half goals by
Nicholas Dwamena and
Ethan Jarden to erase a 1-0 halftime deficit to secure a 2-1 non-conference win over the host Marymount University Saints on Friday night at Long Bridge Park.
- Each team recorded a shot in the opening ten minutes with Saul Iwowo and Alvaro Valdovinos each missing the frame.
- It would be Dickinson who would force the keeper into action, but both attempts by Dwamena were kept out of the net by Bayron Banegas to keep things scoreless into the 36th-minute.
- The Saints then applied the pressure the remainder of the half with Jefferson Coreas ripping three shots towards goal tasking Aidan George into making two saves.
- However, it would be the home side that collected the first marker of the year as a foul in the box on Luke Beiles led to Leonardo Torres cashing in from 12-yards out for the 1-0 lead at the break.
- The Red and White needed just 42-seconds for Dwamena to net his first in a Dickinson kit to knot things up at 1-1.
- Then, in the 51st-minute Jarden had his shot beaten away by Banegas. Fortunately, though for DC Mack Moore collected the rebound and slid it back over to Jarden for the finish and the 2-1 lead.
- The duo of Dwamena and Jarden combined for four more shots over the next couple of minutes with Banegas being called upon to make one stop as the game moved into the 70th.
- Dickinson continued to push for an insurance marker with Daniel Spataro, Connor Uitterdijk, Beiles, Dwamena and Iwowo all letting shots fly, but none of them finding the mark.
- Marymount had one last look at an equalizer in the 88th-minute, unfortunately for the Saints Torres missed the target allowing the Devils to leave with the win.
