KANSAS CITY - The Dickinson men's soccer team continued a stellar 2024 run by having four athletes selected to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Teams on Tuesday afternoon as announced by the organization. The junior duo of
Saul Iwowo and
Ethan Jarden were tabbed for First Team, while first-years
Nicholas Dwamena and
Timi Omoniwa earned Second and Third Team honors respectively.
First Team
Iwowo, the native of London, United Kingdom, was chosen as the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Year label after leading not only the Red and White, but the conference in goals (16) and points (41). Iwowo, who made 23 starts of 24 matches. He collected seven match-winning goals (which led the CC) to go along with 71 shots (30 on target). Over the late part of the regular season as the Devils were jockeying for playoff position Iwowo netted four goals and added one helper over the final two regular season contests. Then, in the first game of the CC postseason against Washington College he gave the home fans a thrill collecting a hat-trick on just four shots in Dickinson's 6-1 win. During the NCAA Tournament run, he grabbed two goals and three assists on nine shots (two on target).
Jarden, the resident of West Chester, Pennsylvania, has appeared in all 24 matches making 22 starts. On the year, he racked up 34 points thanks to 13 markers and eight helpers both numbers rank second in the conference. He much like Iwowo had a flair for the dramatic burying four match-winners on the campaign. He had three multi-goal games notching two against Goucher and Washington, while netting a hat-trick against Gettysburg scoring on his only three shots of that match. Over the four-game NCAA charge, Jarden recorded six shots (one on goal) and chipped in one helper against St. Mary's College of Maryland in the opener.
Second Team
Dwamena, the native of Kumasi, Ghana, was a key cog for the Red and White in his first season in Carlisle notching five goals (three match-winners) and five assists on 50 shots (17 on target). The Centennial Rookie of the Year appeared in 23 matches, recording 20 starts and getting it done at both ends of the pitch for Dickinson from his midfield role. To this point he has tallied points in eight matches, including a three-point output against DeSales where he picked up a goal and an assist. In the Sweet 16 match at Miller Memorial Field against Buffalo State University he fired home one goal on four shots as the Red and White collected a 2-0 victory.
Third Team
Omoniwa, who arrived in Carlisle by way of Houston, Texas, was another great find for head coach
Jorge Chapoy making 22 appearances, tallying 18 starts as a rookie. He tallied seven goals and handed out three assists for 17 points, while ripping 43 shots (20 on target). He collected solo markers during the regular season against Shenandoah, St. Mary's (Md.), Goucher, DeSales and Ursinus. Over the four game NCAA Tournament run, he recorded two shots (one on goal), one goal and one helper.
