BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Dickinson men's cross country team returned to action on Saturday afternoon at the very competitive Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course.
White Race
First, a group of 378 athletes representing Division III athletes from all across the nation came to the starting line to compete in the eight kilometer race.
Brock Overlander would be the top finishing Devil in 85th thanks to a 25:55.0. The next two members of the Red and White almost crossed the stripe at the exact same time as
Luke Knestout and
Nolan Meincke clocked in at 26:00.7 (92nd) and 26:00.8 (93rd) respectively.
Nathan Caldwell landed just outside the Top-100 with a time of 26:10.8 being good for 106th.
Romario Cruz posted a 26:24.4 (128th), followed by
Matthew Dietrick in 26:35.3 (150th).
Mason Macek (26:51.5),
Alexander Kane (26:55.6),
William Kane (27:15.7) and
Atticus Fair (27:43.0) all competed in the event as well.
Chasen Hunt from the University of Lynchburg won the individual title with a 24:28.8, while SUNY Geneseo took the team crown with a score of 75. The Red and White claimed 17th out of 41 teams competing.
Open Race (8k)
Dickinson also had a group of athletes take part in the open race which had athletes across all three divisions.
Alex Hansen was the highest finishing Devil taking 160th out of nearly 600 runners with a time of 26:24.3.
Trevor Richwine crossed at 27:46.7 for 326th, while
Edward Liszka followed him in 338th (27:55.4).
Joel Yetzbacher and
Matthew Colden were within two seconds of each other clocking in at 29:02.9 and 29:04.3 respectively for 441st and 445th.
Jake Cruikshank (29:29.6),
Son Nguyen (30:16.1),
Max Collins (30:17.9),
Josh Penny (30:47.3),
Jack Solovey (31:15.0),
Andrew Edwards (32:36.1), Tyler Erdman (32:41.8) and
Evan Feldman (33:03.2) all hit the course as well.
Jacob Nenow of Division I Princeton seized first by hitting the line in 23:51.0.
On the Docket
Dickinson heads to the National Warplane Museum in Geneseo, New York next Saturday morning to do battle in the Mike Woods Invitational hosted by SUNY Geneseo. The action begins at 10am.Â
