COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Dickinson women's volleyball team began their fall pause trip to Colorado by needing to go the distance with the Austin College (Texas) Kangaroos inside the El Pomar Sports Center on the campus of Colorado College. Unfortunately, for the Red and White the Roos had just a little more in the tank as they grabbed a 3-2 non-conference win on Friday evening.
- A joint block for Jessica Currie and Barowski gave DC a slim 2-1 edge at the start.
- Then, Laynie Kovacs, Victoria Larson, Rachel Sadler, Duncan and Folse embarked on an impressive 14-1 run with a combined block for Currie and Whittaker providing the only score for the Devils as the score jumped to 15-3 AC.
- Individual kills put away by Fishbach, Kim and Thomas made it 17-6, but then the Roos rebounded by taking eight of the ensuing nine points to claim the set 25-7.
- Ducan and Larson tallied early kills for AC, but Cassidy Davis, Barowski, Fishbach, Kim and Thomas answered for the Devils to make it 7-5 DC.
- Following an errant service for the Red and White (7-6), Butcher, Kim and Thomas posted points giving the Red and White an 11-7 lead.
- A kill for Samantha Graham and a pair of aces by Folse kickstarted an 8-2 leap for the Roos sending them ahead 15-13.
- Willow Palmer joined Whittaker on a block, while Davis and Thomas each added a kill to take a slim one-point lead 16-15.
- The two sides then shared the next eight points allowing DC to stay ahead by just one 20-19.
- Despite scores for Butcher and Kim the Devils were not able to put the set away as AC pulled back to even at 24-24.
- A Barowski kill was the final DC score with Brianne Tseng and Sadler notching three in a row to grab a 27-25 win.
- Grace Coccagna, Barowski, Davis, Fishbach and Whittaker gave Dickinson an early 7-5 edge.
- A pair of blocks for Whittaker and two kills by Kim along with solos for Fishbach and Thomas made it 13-7 Devils.
- Austin then responded strong as Jazmyn Kizziar, Madison Manning, Duncan and Graham amassed a 10-1 outburst to move ahead 17-14.
- Dickinson would own the rest of the frame thanks to scores for Davis, Kim, Thomas and Whittaker capping off an 11-3 run (25-20).
- The set began on the seesaw as four kills for Kim and a pair of points by Whittaker giving Dickinson a slight 9-7 lead.
- Two DC miscues and scores from Folse, Kizziar, Kovacs, Sadler and Tseng put the Roos on the verge of the match at 14-10.
- A joint block for Barowski and Fishbach cut it down to 14-11, but a mishit on the ensuing play finished off the match (15-11).
