FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Dickinson women's tennis team had a select group of players compete at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Fall Regional hosted by the University of Mary Washington on Friday and Saturday.
Saturday (9/24)
Doubles
After being defeated on Friday the pair of Fierro and Goitz rebounded on Saturday to knock off a pair from Franklin & Marshall by a score of 8-6 in the Consolation bracket of the "Championship" draw. They then suffered a setback in the final to a duo from Swarthmore.Â
In the "Blue C" Consolation bracket Desjardins and Steele picked up two victories on Saturday to claim the title.
Singles
Goitz fell in a tiebreak to Averett Universtiy's Brenda Poulakidas in the "Blue D" bracket final by a score of 8-7 (7-4 in the tiebreak).

Friday (9/23)
Doubles
In the "Championship" bracket the Red and White had the pair of
Martine Fierro and
Ariana Goitz do battle with Megan Bauer and Anna Campbell from Christopher Newport University. The Devils battled tough, but dropped an 8-6 decision.Â
In the "Blue C" bracket
Izzy Desjardins and
Alisa Steele were edged out by fellow Centennial Conference athletes Annie Barrett and Sriya Krishnan out of Haverford College by a score of 8-5.
Singles
Fierro got an invite into the "Championship" draw for singles and picked up a convincing 6-0, 6-1 win in the first round over Katherine Tamesis from Salisbury University. She then took to the court later in the day for the second round versus Izzy Koziol out of Washington & Lee University. Unfortunately for Martine she could only take two games as she fell 6-1, 6-1.
Goitz took part in the "Blue D" bracket and also toppled a Salisbury Sea Gull (Zeca Eze) in her opening match 8-4, before knocking off Ashley Hair from Lynchburg College (8-6). With her win she advances on to tomorrow's "Blue D" final against Brenda Poulakidas from Averett University at 1pm. Â
