ORLANDO, Fla. - The Dickinson women's tennis suffered their first loss of the season against Hamilton College on Tuesday, before rebounding nicely a day later versus Colby-Sawyer College at the USTA National Tennis Center.
Match One (3/15) - Hamilton 8, DEVILS 0 | USTA National Tennis Center
Doubles (Hamilton 2-0)
Dickinson suffered a pair of tough setbacks as the teams of Izzy Desjardins and Lexi Epstein and Melissa Abbott and Molly Michel were only able to win one combined game at 8-1, 8-0. The top duo of Martine Fierro and Ariana Goitz were unable to complete their match against Hannah Apsey and Lauren Holtzman.
Singles (Hamilton 6-0)
Fierro got it a good go in the first set at first singles taking four games against Apsey, before dropping the match 6-4, 6-0. Epstein came up short 6-1, 6-1 at the second slot, while Dana Kleinman was blanked in the first set prior to winning two games in a 6-0, 6-2 defeat. Anabelle Armendarez, Desjardins, and Michel also struggled on the evening winning a combined six games between the trio.
Match Two (3/16) - DEVILS 6, Colby-Sawyer 0 | USTA National Tennis Center
Doubles (DEVILS 3-0)
The Red and White won all three matches albeit extremely close. First, Fierro and Goitz racked up an 8-5 victory over Grace Carpenter and Emily Hill. Then, at second doubles Epstein along with Kleinman held off Elise Hogan and Lily Tria by a margin of 8-6. The duo of Desjardins and Michel had to go to a tiebreaker to overcome Amira Eid and Mei Genest 8-7 (7-5).
Singles (DEVILS 3-0)
At number one singles Fierro toppled Carpenter (6-2, 6-1), while in the third slot Epstein edged out Hogan (7-6, 6-2). The other match to finish saw Abbott down Taylor Bentley at the sixth flight by scores of 6-0 and 6-2. The other three individual matches featuring Armendarez, Desjardins, and Goitz were not able to finish.
