CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's tennis team return to the court on Saturday morning and earned a convincing 7-2 non-conference win over the visiting Messiah University Falcons on the Hays Tennis Courts.
Doubles (2-1 Red Devils)
The Devils top doubles pair of Martine Fierro and Ariana Goitz got the day started off strong with an 8-1 win. Dickinson also picked up a victory at third doubles thanks to Annabelle Armendarez and Izzy Desjardins by a score of 8-3. The duo of Mellissa Abbott and Olivia Carnevale suffered a hard-fought 8-6 setback.
Singles (5-1 Red Devils)
DC began the singles portion of the match strong as Fierro knocked off Kasi Conjack 6-0 and 6-1. That was followed by straight-set wins for Goitz (7-5, 6-4) and Carnevale (6-1, 6-4) at No. 2 and No. 3 singles.
Messiah earned their only victory when Angela Tozzi toppled Abbott in the No. 4 singles. That match began with Abbott dropping the first 6-3, before rallying back in the second with a 6-0 shutout. However, it would be Tozzi that would outlast Abbott in the third 10-8.
Dana Kleinman would bring down her opponent in consecutive sets at No. 5 (6-1, 6-2) and Armendarez capped off a strong showing for the Devils with a 6-2, 6-0 triumph.
Next on Serve
The Red Devils will head into their next match with a 1-0 mark. Unfortunately, they will not hit the court again until March to begin the Spring part of the schedule.
