(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson baseball team dropped a Centennial Conference game with McDaniel College at MacPhail Field on Wednesday.
The Green Terror scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning to overcome a 3-1 deficit, and tacked on an insurance run in the eighth.
The Red Devils scored twice in the third inning to put a pair of runs on the board. Three straight singles led to a pair of RBIs for senior Hank Sanders (Wellsville, Pa./Northern). Steven Haynes (Mt. Kisco, N.Y./Horace Greeley) and Joe Tursi (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) started things off and came in off the bat of Sanders.
A lead-off double in the fourth, by Marshall Betts led to a Green Terror run as he came in on a single by Nick Valori. Mike Adams (Mount Olive, N.J./Mount Olive) doubled in the bottom of the inning and scored on an RBI single from Benn Parker (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North)
McDaniel loaded the bases and Valori doubled in two runs to tie the game in the sixth. Joe Fiore later singled in two runs to put the Terror in front, 5-3.
Valori led-off the eighth with a homerun to add another insurance run for McDaniel.
Mike Adams finished 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Sanders went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Valori went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored to lead McDaniel (12-14, 6-4).
The Red Devils slip to 18-8 overall and 4-6 in the Centennial Conference. They travel to McDaniel College on Friday to complete the series. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
