BALTIMORE - The Dickinson baseball team took an early lead and got a strong pitching effort from starter
Ben Myers on Tuesday afternoon against the second-ranked Johns Hopkins University. Unfortunately, some late long balls from the Blue Jays allowed them to stop the Devils winning streak at three with a 15-7 conference win at Stromberg Stadium.

- Dickinson began the game with a bang against JHU starter Charles Monterrosa as a double from Ryan Thompson and hit batter of Kevin Schmidt had runners on the corners with one down for Matt Torres. He reached safely on a bunt single to plate Thompson. The next man up was Kaden Sigmon and drove a pitch over the right-field wall making 4-0 through a half.
- Hopkins would have an immediate answer against Ben Myers, as two singles and a walked filled the bags with one gone. That was when Dillon Souvignier picked up an RBI fielder's choice to cut the margin to 4-1.
- Things stayed 4-1 as Monterrosa and Myers combined to allow just two base runners over innings two through four.
- In the top-half Nathan Bowman opened the frame with a double to right-center, before heading to third on a groundout by Thompson. Two batters later saw Schmidt step into the box with two away and thanks to a wild pitch Bowman raced home to stretch the DC edge to 5-1.
- However, the bottom portion of the inning was where JHU did some damage against Myers. Dylan Whitney kicked off things with a homer to left. That was followed by a double, hit batter and walk to fill the pillows with two down. Unfortunately, two walks and another hit batter resulted in three men scoring to level the game at 5-5. Charlie Bien was then summoned from the pen and got a groundout from Whitney to close out the rally.
- Dickinson tried to answer back during the ensuing frame as base hits by Luke Gartland and Sigmon along with a fielder's choice from Kyle Bailey had two on with a pair away. That was when new arm Cole Jefferson got Shawn Arneja to bounce out to the mound for the final out.
- Bien followed that by posting a clean bottom-half setting the Jays aside "three up, three down".
- After the Red and White were set down in order, two singles and a hit batter loaded the bases with Blue Jays once again with one away. Clay Hartje then stepped into the box and deposited a two-run knock to right-center for a 7-5 lead. Bien then collected himself to retire the next two men on a groundout and strikeout.
- Ryan Anderson entered the game to start the inning and got a quick first out from Schmidt on a groundout to first. Torres and Sigmon would then each single and move up 90-feet on a grounder to third. Bailey got one across the plate when he reached on an error by the first baseman. Dylan Posencheg was then brought in to pinch-hit for Arneja and unfortunately despite the two-strike pitch hitting him he was deemed to have leaned into the pitch leading to a third strike ending the Devils attack.
- The home side would take advantage of their break to extend the lead in the last of the frame. First, a double and hit batter were followed by a three-run homer for Shawn Steuerer. Then, Caleb Cyr single to left, before Souvignier sent one over the right-field wall pushing it to 12-6. That brought Glen Catalupo Jr. into the contest to try and calm things down. He retired the first two men he faced, but the next five straight Blue Jays reached leading to two more coming home for a 15-6 lead.
- Two strikeouts opened the frame, before a base hit by Josh Markley set the stage for an RBI two-bagger from Schmidt to set the final of 15-7.
