(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's tennis team improved to 3-0 in the Centennial Conference, turning back McDaniel College, 9-0, on Tuesday afternoon.
Senior Shannon Lavery (Huntington, W. Va./Huntington), ranked 16th in the ITA Atlantic South Region, swept the top singles flight, (6-0, 6-0), and didn't allow a point on the day with an 8-0 decision in doubles.
Classmate Madeline Altholtz (Cohasset, Mass./Cohasset) joined Lavery in the top doubles spot and claimed a 6-1, 6-0 decision in the third singles flight.
Sophomore Sydney Diamond (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) earned two points with wins at number-two singles (6-1, 6-2), and 8-1 in doubles with Claire Stoner (Shelburne, Vt./Champlain Valley Union) in the second flight.
First-year Madison Parks (Denton, Md./North Caroline) did not surrender a point in two matches as well, posting a 6-0, 6-0 decision in the fourth singles flight and joined Sarah Cantor (Providence, R.I./The Wheeler School) to win third doubles, 8-0.
Classmate Joana Nunes (Carcavelos, Portugal/International School, Lisbon) closed out the match with a straight set win in the fifth flight, (6-0, 6-0).
The Red Devils improve to 4-4 overall and 3-0 in the Centennial Conference. They are in action again on Wednesday, traveling to Johns Hopkins for a make-up date.
