(Carlisle, Pa.) –The Dickinson women's tennis team improved to 2-1 in Centennial Conference play, turning back Ursinus College, 6-3, on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Alysia Rodgers (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) and junior Shannon Lavery (Huntington, W. Va./Huntington) each turned in another strong outing as they combined for a win in the top doubles flights and claimed the first and second singles flights as well.
They posted an 8-0 win in doubles and Rodgers dropped just three sets in her win, (6-1, 6-2). Lavery earned the point in the second flight, (6-1, 6-4).
The Devils took a 2-1 lead after doubles as Sarah Cantor () and Sydney Diamond (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) also posted an 8-0 decision. Diamond added a point in the third singles flight, winning her match (6-2, 6-3).
Madeline Altholtz (Cohasset, Mass./Cohasset) was the winner in the fifth singles spot, (6-1, 6-3).
The Red Devils improved to 3-7 overall and 2-1 in the Centennial Conference. They travel to McDaniel College on Wednesday for a 3:30 pm match with the Green Terror.
