(Baltimore, Md.) - The
Dickinson College baseball team took an early lead on #4-ranked
Johns Hopkins but the Blue Jays answered and went on to a 16-4 win
in Baltimore on Tuesday afternoon. |
Sophomore Ben Sciambi (Port Monmouth,
N.J./Ridge) belted a two-run homer,
scoring Mike Schuster (Malvern, Pa./Great
Valley) in the top of the first to put Dickinson in
front 2-0.
The Blue Jays capitalized on three errors in the bottom of the
inning to score six runs, including five unearned, to lead 6-2.
Schuster drove in Matt Tuneski (Waterford,
Conn./Waterford), who led-off the second with a double.
Tuneski tallied an RBI in the third to make the score 7-4 after
Hopkins also added one in the second.
The Blue Jays pushed across two runs in the third, added three
in both the fourth and sixth innings, and added another in the
seventh for the final of 16-4.
The Red Devils managed 10 hits on the afternoon. Schuster and
Tuneski each went 2-for-4 on the day, as did
sophomore Tyler Rosa' (Carmel by the Sea,
Calif./Stevenson School), who also added a
double.
Matt Bernardi and Jesse Sikorski each went 3-for-5, combining
for four runs and four RBIs to lead Johns Hopkins (20-3, 8-0).
Marco Simmons recorded eight strikeouts in seven innings to earn
the win.
The Red Devils slip to 6-16 overall and 3-6 in the Centennial
Conference. They return home to host Hopkins at 3:30 on Friday.
