- Over the next couple of minutes there was not much in the way of offense as the defenses combined to force four turnovers with Parker and Whiteside causing the McDaniel giveaways.
- At the 12-minute mark Nowland extended it to 7-0, before Crawford Fisher stretched it to 8-0 on a free-position shot heading into the break.
- The opening 64-seconds saw each team find back of the net with Alexander and Cavendish striking for their respective sides leaving it at 9-1.
- McDaniel then posted a two-goal run with a pair of markers coming from Mia McElwee cutting it to 9-3 at the 3:58 mark.
- The next shot of the game came with 7:02 gone when Kelly hit Herbert with a pass to open the lead to seven (10-3).
- Dickinson recorded two of the final three shots of the frame, but neither solved the Green Terror netminder wrapping up 45 minutes.
- The Red and White used the first minute to add two more to the ledger making it 12-3 thanks to Herbert (Kelly assist) and Parker.
- The teams traded the ensuing four shots with each keeper being called upon once leaving the margin the same with 5:25 elapsed.
