COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Dickinson men's tennis team gave everything they had all afternoon and into the middle part of the evening, but it was not enough as the host Ursinus College had a little bit more in the tank to claim a 4-3 Centennial Conference victory in a five-hour plus marathon.
Doubles (Bears 2-1)
The home side started out the match by picking a 6-1 win at the second spot thanks to Andrei Bogdan and Deniz Finkel besting
Florian Anderson and
Ryan Whiting. Dickinson grabbed the victory in the three slot as
Drew Allen and
Aidan MacIntosh posted a 6-3 triumph. Unfortunately, for the Red and White the doubles point came down to the decisive first flight where Noah Dichter and Russell Nour had just a little bit more in them than the
Lucas Bogle-
Eddy Chow duo winning by a slim 7-5 margin.
Singles (Tied 3-3)
Ursinus would quickly put themselves on the verge of clinching the match win as Nour at four and Dichter playing a spot above defeated Anderson (3-6, 1-6) and Chow (1-6, 4-6) respectively. Then, Dickinson began their rally with Bogle conceding just five games to Teddy Snyder in top flight during a 6-3, 6-2 win. Just below him was Allen who took the first set from Bogdan by a score of 7-6 thanks to a hard-fought 7-5 victory in the tiebreak, before cruising to a 6-2 victory in the second. With the Red and White down 3-2 in the team score, Whiting playing in the sixth slot brought the Devils even with a 6-2, 6-3 win against Hunter Murray. The match all came down to Charles DiCicco and MacIntosh battling it out at five. Dickinson grabbed the first set 7-6 (7-4 tiebreak), but then DiCicco seized the second 6-7 (7-3 tiebreak) and the deciding third (3-6) securing the match for Ursinus.
