CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's lacrosse team took a 2-1 lead five minutes into the first quarter, but could not find the back of the net the remainder of the game as the visiting Saint Lawrence University posted a 7-2 non-conference win at Biddle Field on Wednesday afternoon.
- Dickinson had the first chance just over a minute in, but Zoe Froimovitz turned away Grace Kelly.
- On the ensuing possession, Cate Rathnam opened the scoring with an unassisted marker slipping past Peyton VanDorpe.
- Back-to-back Faith Parker draw control victories led to Delaney Herbert setting up Sage Whiteside and Caroline Cavendish to make it 2-1 Devils with 10:10 to play.
- Over the next five minutes VanDorpe would notch three more saves, before Phoebe Spaeth drew things level at 2-2.
- Both keepers would add two more saves to their ledgers during the remainder of the period with VanDorpe denying Ellie Camp and Neve Ley from free-position attempts, while Froimovitz shutdown Bella Guckes twice to leave it 2-2 after one.
- Dickinson used the first five minutes of the period to record three shots with Herbert missing the target twice and Meghan McDonald forcing another stop out of Froimovitz.
- The next three chances went the way of the Saints with VanDorpe having the answer for both Caroline Hamilton and Rathnam, but being solved by Kelsey Roth to give SLU a slim 3-2 lead at the 6:29 mark.
- The ensuing four minutes went by with the two sides combining for six giveaways while Froimovitz made another stop to keep it 3-2 heading into the break.
- Froimovitz picked up another stop just 32 seconds into the frame shutting down Carson Cerow, before three consecutive SLU shots led to their fourth goal of the contest with 1:57 gone.
- The Saints continued to put on the pressure against the Devils defense and eventually added two collected two more tallies thanks to Jessica LaPlaca and Roth stretching the margin to 6-2 at the 5:10 mark.
- Dickinson tried to respond as Marnie Todd claimed the following draw control and watched her teammates charge into the attack and fire five straight shots towards goal. However, Froimovitz denied the trio of Bella Guckes, Grace Kelly and Herbert.
- After VanDorpe threw up the wall on Neve Ley with 6:13 left, Froimovitz made two saves against Parker on free-positions, while Cerow rang the iron to leave the score at 6-2 heading to the fourth.
- The St. Lawrence goalie continued her roll by picking up early saves against Herbert and Parker as DC just could not seem to find an answer on the offensive end.
- With the game entering the final five minutes and Dickinson still with a chance only down four (6-2) Froimovitz turned away the duo of Guckes and Herbert, while Ley capped the scoring at the 10:32 mark for the 7-2 final.
