SALISBURY, Md. - For the first time during the 2024-2025 season the Dickinson women's tennis team suffered a setback as they dropped a 6-1 decision to the host Salisbury University Sea Gulls in non-conference action at the SU Tennis Complex on Friday evening.
Doubles (Sea Gulls 3-0) (One Point)
Two Dickinson pairs were able to claim three games as
Alisa Steele and
Loretta Szych playing at one and
Anabelle Armendarez along with her partner
Natasha Sharnoff in the two slot fell by identical 6-3 scores. The duo of
Izzy Desjardins and
Chloe Heller also came up on the short-end of their match against Ridgley Lake and Katherine Raab by a margin of 6-2.Â
Singles (Sea Gulls 5-1)
The lone victory for the Red and White came at the second flight where Sharnoff brought down Olivia Hall (6-2, 6-4). Both Szych at the four line and Armendarez a spot later battled hard, but dropped their matches 5-7, 1-6 and 0-6, 5-7 respectively. Heller claimed six total games in third singles as Lily Muir out dueled her 2-6, 4-6. Desjardins (6th) took four games at the sixth slot against Raab (1-6, 3-6), while Gibelle Beaujon downed Steele at number one (0-6, 2-6).
The First Serve
Dickinson (3-1) will get back to action on Sunday, March 9th when they begin their spring break trip in Hilton Head, South Carolina against West Liberty University. First serve between the Devils and Mountaineers is set for 1pm.
