CARLISLE,, Pa. - The Dickinson women's lacrosse team got goals from nine different players and built up an 11-0 lead through three quarters en route to grabbing a 13-4 non-conference win over Susquehanna University in the home opener at Biddle Field on Wednesday afternoon.
- Following a save for Sierra McLaughlin just 49 seconds in, Abby Geary setup Sage Whiteside to make it 1-0 about a minute later.
- Both keepers were then called upon as McLaughlin denied Allie Kutler, while Aerin O'Brien shutdown Liz Barroll and Geary.
- With less than seven minutes to play both Bella Guckes and Jenna Nowland missed the mark, before Carson Cerow and Marnie Todd solved O'Brien to take a 3-0 lead with 12:21 gone.
- Dickinson would not be done finding the back of the net in the period as a foul Liz Kelly resulted in Geary notching a free-position marker to go ahead 4-0 after one.
- Sage Whiteside would gain control of the opening draw and get to the ball to Guckes for a shot that was stopped by O'Brien, but Whiteside was there to put away the rebound (5-0).
- McLaughlin continued to hold onto her shutout about a minute later when she stopped Allie Kutler on a free-position, which set the stage for Cerow to bag her second off a free-position.
- Susquehanna notched four of the next five shots, but DC made their only chance count as Grace Kelly connected with Delaney Herbert for the finish to extend the gap to 7-0.
- Both goalies were called upon to make two more stops, before Faith Parker found Guckes for the 8-0 halftime lead.
- For the second game in a row Peyton VanDorpe went between the pipes for the Devils, and immediately watched her teammates open up a 10-0 lead thanks to Crawford Fisher and Parker with not even three minutes gone.
- The next six minutes saw the River Hawks secure the only two shots during that span with Nikki Genovese and Sophia Trively not able to beat the DC netminder.
- Cerow, Herbert and Todd would all force O'Brien to make another save, but it was ultimately Geary who struck for the final time in the frame to hold an 11-0 edge heading to the fourth.
- Herbert tried to extend the gap to 12-0 at the 2:18 mark, but O'Brien had the answer.
- That set the stage for Genovese and Kutler to strike in a two minute span to end the shutout and make it 11-2.
- The two sides exchanged the next four shots, before Trively cut it down to 11-3 with 4:15 left.
- Dickinson then snapped back to attention as Caroline Cavendish and Geary (Jenna Nowland assist) stretched the margin back to double-digits at 13-3 with just under two minutes remaining.
- Abby Andrus hit the back of the cage for the guests in the final minute to set the 13-4 result.
