CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Dickinson field hockey team found their offensive footing on Saturday afternoon as they fired a season-high 30 shots with 24 getting on target en route to a comfortable 4-1 non-conference win over the host DeSales University at the DSU Turf Fields.
- The Red and White came out on the attack as Alexandra Hockwitt, Erin Liggio and Nicole Uebele each tested Bulldogs goalie Alyssa Schlossman within the first five minutes.
- However, with 5:32 off the clock it was the home side that struck first with Nikki Chiaradia finding Jordyne Stong for the finish past DC keeper Taylor Morrow.
- Each side added one more shot in the frame with Maggie Carson being denied by Schlossman, while Brooke Sodl had her attempt blocked by the Devil defense.
- Both teams missed the target with their opening chance of the period.Â
- Then, with just about five minutes gone Malena Malka Goldman had a shot snuffed out by Schlossman. However, Natalie Slusser was there to pounce on the loose ball and stick it into the cage to tie the game.
- The rest of the quarter saw the Devils create a shooting gallery against Schlossman as Caroline Kirkpatrick, Megan McClure, Natalie Slusser, Liggio and Malka Goldman forced a combined eight more saves out of the DSU keeper to keep things locked up at the break.
- The Devils outshot the Bulldogs 15-2 in the second and 19-4 through the opening 30 minutes.
- Dickinson picked right up where they left off coming out of the half with Carson, McClure and Uebele tasking Schlossman into three more saves within the opening two-plus minutes.
- After Uebele deposited a rebound off Schlossman into the cage for a 2-1 edge, it was the DC defense who had to step up as Morrow made two quick stops on Chiaradia and Sodl.
- The Red and White opened the lead to 3-1 in the 37th minute when Uebele played a corner to Calyn Clements who found Hockwitt for the goal.Â
- DeSales next shot came with 43:06 off the clock when Stong had her offering blocked down by the defense.Â
- Uebele made it 4-1 with just four seconds left with an unassisted tally.
- To begin the frame Olivia Croshaw went between the pipes for Morrow and she was put under immediate pressure with Delani Remp and Sodl missing the target, while Brynn Balliet was shutdown by Croshaw.Â
- Dickinson asked two more questions of Schlossman prior to the end of the game with Lucy Brown and McClure forcing saves to keep the final scoreline at 4-1.
