CARLISLE, Pa. - Senior
Becca Woods and first-year
Erin Liggio found the back of the cage in just over a 90-second span late in the fourth to erase a 2-1 deficit and post a 3-2 non-conference win over Susquehanna University on Wednesday afternoon at the Biddle Field Complex.
- The Hawks were flying early as just 2:57 into the game Sophia Prata found Ashley Schreffler for the finish past Taylor Morrow.
- Morrow then settled into the game making stops against Kiara Koeller and Kari Schmidt to keep it at 1-0.
- Woods would notch the only two shots for the Devils in the period, but neither would test Ashley Derrick.
- The Devils would be responsible for the only action early on in the frame as two corners played into the circle by Nicole Uebele resulted in one shot for Liggio that was knocked away by Derrick.
- That would be the only offensive look for either side until 29-seconds left in the period when Woods stashed her first of two on the day to tie things heading to the break.
- Susquehanna was on the attack early as Schmidt forced Morrow into making a stop, while Taylor Rothermel missed the mark.
- The home side recorded the ensuing four shots with Uebele testing Derrick as Maggie Cason and Natalie Slusser had offerings blocked down by the defense.
- Schmidt tallied the last shot for the visitors with five minutes left, while Slusser and Woods added chances for the Devils in the final minutes.
- Morrow and Derrick were under pressure early as they combined for three stops in the first five-plus minutes.
- After Emma Campitelli made it 2-1 SU, the Red and White went to work with Malena Malka Goldman, Alexandra Hockwitt, Carson and Woods each ripping one towards cage.
- However, Dickinson did eventually find an equalizer when a foul in the circle resulted in a penalty stroke being awarded. Woods would step up to the spot and send the ball past Derrick to tie things up.
- The Devils just kept coming and ultimately collected the winner when Woods had a shot initially blocked, before Liggio poked it home with 19-seconds left for the win.
