SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's tennis team began their Centennial Conference schedule on Saturday afternoon with a trip to nationally-ranked Swarthmore College. Unfortunately, the Red and White dropped an 8-1 decision at the Faulkner Tennis Courts.
Doubles (Garnet 3-0)
The Dickinson duo to take even a game was the third team of
Maddie Lindquist and
Molly Michel as they went down 8-1 to Daniela Padron-Castillo and Riya Rao. The other two pairs of
Alisa Steele and
Bonnie Thomas (1st) as well as
Dana Kleinman and
Sara Jaklitsch (2nd) fell by scores of 8-0, 8-0 against Erica Stutz and Nathalie Williams (1st) and Oviya Kumaran and Spencer Watts (2nd).
Singles (Garnet 5-1)
The Red and White claimed their lone point of the match when
Jenna Crain took the first set from Williams in the number one slot 6-3, before the Garnet player opted to forfeit the remainder of the matchup. In the sixth spot,
Anabelle Armendarez grabbed two games off of Rao in a 6-1, 6-1 setback. Michel playing at four and Kleinman in the five slot were each able to take one game from Ella Strickler (6-1, 6-0) and Lara Geib (6-0, 6-1). Steele (2nd) and Thomas (3rd) each suffered a 6-0, 6-0 defeat to Lola Diaz and Kathleen Shiffer respectively.

Dickinson (6-3, 0-1 Centennial) makes the short drive down to Gettysburg College on Wednesday for a conference showdown with the Bullets at 4pm.
