Devils Hunt Down Bears in Carlisle

CARLISLE, Pa. - Aided by a perfect run over the six singles matches on Saturday the Dickinson women's tennis team claimed their first Centennial Conference win by knocking off the visiting Ursinus College Bears by a score of 7-2 at the Hays Tennis Courts.

Doubles (Bears 2-1)
The lone win for Dickinson came in the two slot as Jenna Crain and Dana Kleinman blanked Julia Nitz and Bella Vassalluzzo (8-0). The top pair for the Bears of Allie Armour and Avery Samer needed a tiebreak to edge out Alisa Steele and Bonnie Thomas (7-8, 2-7 tiebreak). Maddie Lindquist and Molly Michel nabbed three games from Morgan Coupe and Caroline Daly in an 8-3 setback.

Singles (DEVILS 6-0)
The first match to finish was the battle at one between Crain and Armour with the Devils earning a 6-0, 6-4 win to level the match. In the two slot, Steele allowed just three games to Samer in the 6-1, 6-2 victory to give the Red and White the lead in the match (3-2). Michel posted a 6-4, 6-3 triumph at four to move the hosts within one point of securing the match (4-2). That was exactly what they got in the three slot as Thomas traded the first two sets with Daly, before finishing her off in the third 7-5. Kleinman and Fiona Finnerty also went the distance against with Kleinman claiming an 11-9 win in the third. At the sixth spot, Sara Jaklitsch rounded out the match with a two-set victory over Vassalluzzo (6-2, 6-1).

The First Serve
Dickinson (7-3, 1-1 Centennial) returns to the Hays Tennis Courts on Tuesday afternoon to take on conference foe Johns Hopkins University at 4pm.
