BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Dickinson women's cross country team returned to action on Saturday afternoon to compete with a very talented field at Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course.
White Race
First, a group of nearly 400 athletes comprised of schools from all around the Unted States came to the starting line to compete in the six kilometer race.
Meghan Higgins-Haas was the first member of the Red and White to cross the line at 22:58.0 for 105th.
Myra Naqvi nabbed 119th with 23:05.5, while
Maddie Garber hit the stripe in 23:13.1 for 131st.
Elizabeth Barbash was next in 173rd (23:40.8), followed by
Breanna Franchak (215th - 24:05.7),
Sophia Kovalski (262nd - 24:36.4),
Marley Kurey (329th - 25:37.2) and
Jillian McNulty (331st - 25:38.2).
Jules Bleskoski from RPI won the individual title with a 20:42.5, while Amherst took the team crown with a score of 135. The Red and White claimed 21st out of 46 teams competing.
Open Race (6k)
Dickinson also had a group of athletes take part in the open race which had athletes across all three divisions. In a field that was made up of just over 500 runners,
Jenna Kerns and
Devon Culberson finished within five seconds of each other at 25:33.6 (305th) and 25:37.2 (308th).
Abigail Duffy was the next Devil in with a 26:16.5 (352nd), followed by
Lauren Scott (26:23.0),
Emma Lewis (26:58.4),
Emma VanMeter (27:02.2),
Rebecca Roberts (27:56.6) and
Ellie Drescher (30:06.8).
Selma Anderson of Division I Syracuse University seized first by hitting the line in 21:02.9.
On the Docket
Dickinson heads to the National Warplane Museum in Geneseo, New York next Saturday morning to do battle in the Mike Woods Invitational hosted by SUNY Geneseo. The action begins at 10am.
