SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Dickinson field hockey team got a goal from
Nicole Uebele to tie the game at 1-1, but the host Swarthmore College added two more markers late in the third quarter to secure a 3-1 conference win at Clothier Field on Saturday evening.
- The home side recorded the first two shots of the game within the opening three minutes, but neither offering bothered DC keeper Taylor Morrow.
- Dickinson earned three consecutive corners leading to a trio of shots from Maggie Carson, Natalie Slusser and Uebele, unfortunately, Cassandra Conklin was up to the task.
- Sarah Cooper and Katherine Kohn forced stops out of Morrow over the final two minutes to keep things scoreless through one.
- The Garnet controlled the frame recording all six shots tasking Morrow into making five stops as Kohn was able to slip one over the line with 25:53 gone in the game to make it 1-0 at the break.
- Just 91-seconds into the period Erin Liggio tried to bring Dickinson back into the game, but her attempt went wide of the cage.
- A penalty corner in the 35th minutes for the Red and White led to shots for both Alexandra Hockwitt and Becca Woods which were denied by Conklin.
- However, the Devils would cash in on their next corner chance as Uebele found Malena Malka Goldman with a pass who returned the ball to Uebele for the finish.
- Unfortunately, for Dickinson though Swarthmore would fire two more shots the rest of the period with both of them (one a penalty stroke) finding the back of the cage to take a 3-1 edge to the fourth.
- Conklin was busy early shutting down both Uebele and Woods with just two minutes gone.
- Morrow then came up big for the Devils to keep them in the game stopping Sophia Hitchingham and Hannah Ulrich.Â
- Sammi Moonay asked one more question of Conklin who was up to the task yet again, while Liggio missed wide to let the Garnet finish off the win.
