Devils Drop Conference Contest to Diplomats

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Dickinson field hockey team continued their Centennial Conference slate on Wednesday night by making the short trip over to Lancaster for a matchup against Franklin & Marshall College. Unfortunately, for the Red and White the Diplomats left Tylus Field with a 4-0 win.

The home side had the early pressure recording the first three shots of the game with Keira Boensch and Jessica Miller missing wide, before Miller finished off a pass from Darby Klopp for the 1-0 lead with 5:38 gone. Dickinson got their only chance of the first in the 10th-minute when Abby Marthins missed the cage guarded by Sydney Lippe. F&M tried to add one more just prior to the end of the first, but Devils keeper Saige Stevens made a save.

The Devils tried to take advantage of two penalty corners inside the first six minutes of the second. However, the offerings by Katie Marthins and Anna Snyder both missed the target. After that the rest of the period belonged to the Diplomats as they tallied six shots over the final five minutes with Sophie Carroll beating the keeper for the 2-0 halftime edge.

At the 2:17 mark of the third F&M forced another stop from Stevens as she beat away a shot from Miller. Two minutes later DC entered the attacking zone and Becca Woods was able to muster up an attempt, unfortunately, it did not bother Lippe. Klopp would ping the post off a corner with two minutes left and Stevens denied Carolina Riley to hold the deficit at 2-0 going to the fourth.

The Diplomats had complete control of the fourth as they tallied the only seven shots of the period getting goals from Avery Niedland and Miller to set the 4-0 final.
