CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson volleyball team held the visiting Bryn Mawr College to a -.013 hitting percentage, while posting a solid .383 on their own to nab a 3-0 Centennial Conference win over the Owls on Saturday afternoon at the Kline Center.
The Red and White started fast as a pair of kills from
Mathilde Verbitsky along with an ace by
Camille Dofiles gave the hosts a 5-1 lead. Then the visitors flipped the script for a little bit with Elise Perry recording five kills during a 9-3 run to jump ahead 10-8.
Cassidy Davis and
Emma Lange helped DC put together a 7-2 charge to reclaim a 17-14 advantage. After the Owls took two of the next three the Devils put the clamps on the set as
Ann Marie Patterson joined Davis and Lange on the scoresheet in a 25-17 win.
The second set went back-and-forth early with DC taking a 7-5 lead. Two aces from Lange and five kills by
Amelia Kim had Dickinson doubling up the Owls 16-8 at the end of a 9-3 push. Consecutive Perry kills cut the deficit to 16-10, but
Grace Coccagna,
Dessie Anne Nietert, Lange, Patterson, and Verbitsky ended the frame on a 9-1 run to take the game 25-11.
Dickinson jumped out to a 4-1 advantage in the third, before kills by Zoe Boxill and Perry made it 4-3. However, then the Devils began to roll with Davis, Lange, Patterson, and Verbitsky all recording kills during a 10-0 rampage for a 14-3 lead. A joint block from Boxill and Perry sparked another DC charge as
Avery Lewis, Kim and Patterson put together a 9-3 gallop to extend the gap to 23-7. Bryn Mawr fought for a little while longer using a 6-1 push to close within 24-13, before a bad touch from Boxill ended the match.
