Red Devils Blank Bryn Mawr for 12th Win

(Bryn Mawr, Pa) – The Dickinson volleyball team got stronger as the night went on, posting a 3-0 win at Bryn Mawr College on Monday. The Red Devils went on a run to take the opening set, 25-13, and added scores of 25-8 and 25-13 to close out the match.

Dickinson jumped out to an 8-3 start and kept rolling in the opening stanza. Kylie Albertsen (Woodstock, Md./Marriots Ridge) and Morgan Biggs (Stephenson, Va./James Wood) combined for a huge block to stretch the margin to 15-7.

The Red Devils continued to roll in the opening set and Emma Lange (Jupiter, Fla./Benjamin) put down a big kill to close things out, 25-13.

The Red Devils jumped out to an 8-3 start in the second set as well, forcing a timeout from the Owls. Dickinson would later string together six straight points to stretch the margin to 14-4.

Christina Chu (Hartsdale, N.Y./Ardsley) served an ace and stretched the lead to 17-5. The teams traded side-outs and Jamie Singer (Livingston, N.J./Golda Och) added and ace and went on to serve the Red Devils to a 22-6 advantage.

First-year setter Brissa Black (Bonney Lake, Wash./Bonney Lake) came on and sent back a big block and Albertsen put a kill down to end the second, 25-8.

The third set was back-and-forth at the start with the teams playing to a 5-5 tie. The Red Devils gained some separation, pulling in front, 15-11, behind a straight down kill from Lange to force a Bryn Mawr timeout before Dickinson went on a run to close out the set and the match, 25-13.

Lange led the Red Devils, hitting .429 on the night with eight kills. Black tallied seven assists while Kristin Allgaier (Reston, Va./South Lakes) handed out nine assists and had four digs.

Senior Jacqueline Banker (Rockaway Park, N.Y./Archbishop Malloy) and Chu each finished with eight digs while Chu tallied three aces and two assists.

Biggs tallied four kills and Singer finished with three digs, two aces and two kills. Jordyn Park (Great Falls, Va./Flint Hill) returned to the line-up adding three kills on the night.

The Red Devils improve to 12-7 overall and 4-3 in the Centennial Conference. They travel to a tri-match at St. Vincent on Saturday, facing the hosts at 1:00 pm and Westminster at 3:00 pm.
