#6 Bullets Hold Off Devils in Top 20 Match-Up

Box Score

(Gettysburg, Pa.) – The #20-ranked Dickinson women's lacrosse team played an outstanding second half, but couldn't overcome a strong start from #6-ranked Gettysburg as the Bullets claimed an 11-6 decision on Wednesday afternoon.

The Red Devils put together a 5-2 run in the second half as the Bullets held just a 6-5 advantage after the break.

Gettysburg scored five unanswered goals, taking a 3-0 lead at the 25:48 mark. The Red Devils held the Bullets scoreless for a six minute stretch. After Maggie Connolly found the net at the 19:11 mark, Dickinson stalled the attack once again, this time for a 13 minute span.

Katie Landry scored with 6:07 to play in the half and first-year Anne Dunster (Cos Cobb, Conn./Greenwich) put the Devils on the board with a free position goal with 1:42 remaining.

The Bullets capitalized on a pair of free position goals as they opened the second half with three straight to extend the lead to 8-1. The Red Devils countered with back-to-back goals as senior Jennifer Morrissey (Rockville, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) tallied assists to Caroline Clancy (Monkton, Md./Hereford) and Maddy Siebold (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes).

Landry countered for the Bullets before Siebold struck again and Clancy returned the favor, feeding Morrissey at the 16:04 mark, pulling the Devils within four at 9-5.

Gettysburg sandwiched two more goals around another score from Clancy as she finished an assist from Dunster for the final of 11-6.

Siebold controlled eight draws and caused three turnovers to go with her two goals. Moira Mahoney (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) caused three turnovers as well, adding three ground balls. First-year Sarah Blelloch (Raleigh, N.C./St. Mary's) stepped in goal and made a pair of saves for the Red Devils.

Dickinson outshot the Bullets 22-16, forcing nine saves from Shannon Keeler.

The Red Devils slip to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in the Centennial Conference. They travel to Haverford College on Saturday for a 12:00 pm start.
