Box Score (Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's lacrosse team celebrated senior day with a big win over Swarthmore College, posting a 16-4 decision on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils jumped out to a 3-0 start behind a natural hat-trick from first-year Sam Marmo (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Immaculate Heart).
The Garnet tallied goals around an unassisted score by senior Caroline Clancy (Monkton, Md./Hereford) before another 3-0 run put the Red Devils out in front, 7-2.
Junior Maddy Siebold (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) found the back of the net and then found Sophie Waine (Wellesley, Mass./Greenwich) and Anne Dunster (Cos Cob, Conn./Greenwich) with back-to-back assists.
Swarthmore capitalized on a free position and Tess Wild scored at the 2:05 mark to cut the deficit to 7-4 at halftime.
The Red Devils would dominate the second half, keeping the Garnet off the board for the entire 30 minutes, scoring nine unanswered goals. Dickinson wasted little time after the break as Siebold found senior Jennifer Morrissey (Rockville, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel), just 14 seconds into the second half.
The Red Devils struck two more times in less than a minute as Dunster converted a free position and Clancy fed Morrissey on the back post to make the score, 10-4, with 28:58 remaining in the game.
Siebold struck again before Marmo tallied the first of four straight free positions goals. Eleanor Kaestner (Glyndon, Md./Franklin) and Allison Carey (Weston, Conn./Laurelton Hall) converted, and Dunster added the fourth, with 12:03 left to play.
Junior Talene Bush (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) closed out the scoring as Morrissey handed out her nine assist of the season.
Senior captain Moira Mahoney (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) became the second player in program history to record over 100 caused turnovers, recording a pair to go with three ground balls.
Siebold tallied two goals, three assists and nine draw controls on the day. Marmo found the net four times to lead the attack. Junior goaltender Tara Cuddihy (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) was outstanding in goal as well, causing seven turnovers and controlling six ground balls in addition to eight saves.
Connie Bowen turned away 15 shots in goal for Swarthmore.
