(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson softball team split its third straight Centennial Conference double-header, going 1-1 with Haverford College on Saturday afternoon at Dickinson Park. The 'Fords won the opener, 4-1, and the Red Devils used a six run inning to claim the nightcap, 8-1.
The Red Devils struck first in game one as Nicole Torlincasi (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) drew a lead-off walk and scored on a double from Grace Edelson (Basking Ridge, N.J./Villa Walsh).
Kendall Chambers hit a three-run homer in the fourth to put Haverford on top and Kaitlyn Gould hit a solo shot in the seventh for the final of 4-1.
Madison Milaszewski (Rutland, Mass./Sutton) suffered the loss, despite allowing just four hits and two walks, and recording four strikeouts.
The Red Devils erupted for six runs in the second inning to take control of game two, right out of the gate. Haverford scored an unearned run in the first inning before Nicole Clayton (Chadds Ford, Pa./Garnet Valley) and Killian Kueny (Ewing, N.J./Ewing) reached on back-to-back singles.
The 'Fords recorded two outs but that didn't stall the Red Devils as they produced another single, a double and a two-RBI triple from Edelson to score five runs. Casey Ditzler (Cleona, Pa./Annville-Cleona) added an RBI single for the final run of the inning.
Kueny drove in two runs with a single to right field in the fourth inning to stretch the margin to 8-1. Haverford had two runners stranded in the sixth and Kueny closed out the game with a one-two-three performance in the seventh.
Edelson went 2-for-3 in both games, scoring two runs and driving in two more in game two.
Michelle Orden (Hillsdale, N.J./Pascack Valley) added two hits and two RBIs while Kueny went 2-for-4 with three RBIs while earning the win in the circle with nine strikeouts. Nicole Piet (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) went 2-for-3, reaching on an error and a walk. Ditzler reached on a pair of hits and a fielder's choice.
The Red Devils move to 6-16 overall and 3-3 in the CC. They travel to Gettysburg College on Tuesday for a 3:00 pm start.
