(Lancaster, Pa.) – The Dickinson volleyball team suffered a pair of setbacks to close out the 2014 season on Saturday. The Red Devils dropped a 3-1 decision to host Franklin & Marshall and fell to Cabrini College, 3-0, in the nightcap.
Dickinson had a strong start, winning the opening set, 25-16. The Diplomats answered with three straight wins, (25-17, 25-11, 25-14).
First-year Lauren Beecher (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) led the Devils with 12 kills in the opener while Lauren Ahern (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) added six.
Sophomore libero Arielle Misrok (Ardsley, N.Y./Ardsley) tallied 20 digs and first-year Erin Bongo (Rockaway, N.J./Good Counsel) picked-up 15 digs and tallied a pair of aces to start the day.
Junior setter Jenn Morrissey (Rockville, Md./Good Counsel) handed out 20 assists.
Cabrini claimed the opening set of the second match, 25-16, and the Red Devils battled in the second and third before falling, 25-22, in each.
Morrissey added 22 assists while Misrok recorded a match-high 18 digs. Junior Emily Smith (Victor, N.Y./Victor) led the attack with six kills and Bongo and Gillian Chan (Brooklyn, N.Y./Poly Prep Country Day) each added five.
The Red Devils finish 6-16 overall and 2-8 in the Centennial Conference.
