(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's volleyball team put up a solid fight, but fell to visiting Gettysburg, 3-0, on Wednesday night. The Bullets held off the Red Devils, 25-23 in the first set and posted 25-13, 25-17 decisions in the second and third to secure the win.
First-year Emily Smith (Victor, N.Y./Victor) recorded a match-high 13 kills while sophomore Jessie Shaffner (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) added 10 kills, tallied three service aces and picked-up five digs on the night.
First-year Jenn Morrissey (Rockville, Md./Good Counsel) dished out a match-high 25 assists and classmate Mairi Poisson (Cheshire, Conn./Miss Porter's School) led the team with six digs. Samantha Iazzetta (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) and Laura Silverman (Marlborough, Mass./Marlborough) combined for nine kills while Iazzetta added five digs as well.
Cydney Bracken led the Bullets with 11 kills while Courtney Cyr tallied four blocks. The Red Devils slip to 1-10 overall and 0-2 in the Centennial Conference. They travel to Swarthmore College on Saturday to face the Garnet at 12:00 pm.
