(Washington, D.C.) - The
Dickinson College women's lacrosse team rallied from a 7-2 deficit
to knock-off 14th-ranked Catholic University, 12-11, on Tuesday
afternoon. |
Sophomore Kaity Moore (Chestertown, Md./St.
Andrew's)scored the game-winner with just 51 seconds
remaining in regulation to lead the Red Devils to their fourth win
of the season (4-1).
Dickinson struck first before the Cardinals went on a 7-1 run to
lead by five at the 11:07 mark. Lucy West (Bethesda,
Md./Holton Arms) scored twice to end a three-goal run
and cut the deficit to 7-5 at halftime.
The teams traded goals throughout the second half with Catholic
holding the lead until Sunnie Ko (Springfield,
Va./West Springfield) tied the game on a free
position with 10:54 to play.
Sara Braniecki (Ocean City, Md./Stephen
Decatur) finished aClaire Manoli (Hudson,
Ohio/Western Reserve Academy) assist to give the
Devils an 11-10 lead at the 9:28 mark. Mary Swarthout answered to
tie the game with 7:49 remaining in regulation.
That was how it stayed until Moore broke through to net the
game-winner in the final minute with her second goal of the game.
She also added an assist on the day.
Ko scored three goals, assisted another and forced four
turnovers while Kelsey Muir (Glen Mills, Pa./Academy
of Notre Dame) had another big outing with three
goals.
Alysa Crellin (Little Compton, R.I./Portsmouth Abbey
School)added a goal and controlled three draws. West and
Manoli each tallied three draws as well.
Jessie Clark (Devon, Pa./Conestoga) made
11 saves in goal for the Red Devils.
Laura Herring led Catholic (1-4) with two goals and two assists.
Melissa Brashear made eight saves in goal.
The Red Devils (4-1) return home to host Washington College on
Saturday at 1:00 pm.
