LANCASTER, Pa. - The Dickinson softball team used a solid offensive performance and strong pitching from
Erin McMahon to pick up a 5-0 win in game one on Saturday against Franklin and Marshall College. However, in game two it would be the Diplomats with the offense posting an 8-2 victory at the Baker Campus Fields Complex.

Inside the Game
- After a quiet first inning for both sides, Dickinson came up to bat in the second against Dwyer. McMahon opened it up with a double to right and then came in on a base hit from Marah Goldman. Lauren Routzahn knocked a single into left plating Goldman, before an infield hit by Elizabeth Raefski drove home Routzahn for a 3-0 lead going to the third.
- Abby Kohan kicked off the start of the third with a single to right and then went to second on a wild pitch. After McMahon was drilled by a pitch with one down, Goldman was safe on a fielder's choice which forced out McMahon. Dickinson then used their speed to their advantage as a double steal between Goldman and Kohan resulted in a 4-0 DC advantage.Â
- Dickinson tried to add onto their lead during the top of the fourth as Hope Josti doubled to left-center and then advanced to second on a passed ball. However, flyouts for Laia Gwathmey and Jane Lloyd closed out the frame.
- After McMahon's excellence in the circle got through four innings, the Red and White extended the gap to 5-0 during the top of the fifth when Kohan opened up with a single before crossing on another knock off the bat of Goldman.
- McMahon would allow base runners in each of the final three frames, but did not allow anyone beyond second base as a groundout by Gabby Mundy to short ended the game.

Inside the Game
- Following a scoreless top of the first, the Diplomats came up in the home and after two quick outs recorded by Kohan, F&MÂ used a double and single to grab a 1-0 edge. From there three straight singles by DelGrippo, Grace Header and Hillary Murse extended the hosts lead to 3-0 through one.
- DelGrippo then posted a one-two-three shutdown inning, which gave her offense a chance to add onto their edge. A walk, passed ball and single had runners at the corners with no one out. Mundy grounded out to produce one RBI, before Jaden Spigner provided an RBI double to left (5-0). That led to Kaylie Renner taking over in the circle. She was greeted by a single and sacrifice fly to make it 6-0, but the Diplomats were not done as Header smacked a two-run homer to straightaway center for the 8-0 lead going to the third.
- Dickinson settled down defensively over the next two innings, but still could not get on track with the bats going "six-up, six-down". Then, in the fifth, the Devils got to Sheflin who became the second pitcher of the game for F&M. Routzahn began things with a walk, before two batters later Raefski blasted a two-run homer beyond the left-field fence. Sheflin would then retire the ensuing two hitters to not allow any more of a rally to occur.
- It stayed 8-2 into the top of the seventh as the Red and White faced "last call" versus Sheflin. Unfortunately, for Dickinson three consecutive popouts to short ended the frame and game.
