BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Dickinson men's outdoor track and field team got one win on the day thanks to
Franklyn Akabi-During, while claiming multiple other Top-10s at the Coach Pollard Invite hosted by Moravian University on Friday afternoon.
Sprints
Akabi-During continued his outstanding rookie campaign by winning the 100m with a time of 10.57.
William O'Connor grabbed 39th at 11.56, while
Matthew Greenley hit the line in 11.75. During the 110m hurdles Brendan Regan earned 19th thanks to a 17.06.
Akabi-During nabbed his second podium place in the 200m as his mark of 21.54 claimed second. He was joined in the Top-5 by
Darian Crim at 22.28 for fifth.
Ian Gormley finished in 21st (23.17), followed by O'Connor (23rd - 23.20) and Greenley (38th - 24.27).
A pair of Devils were within the Top-10 for the 400m with Crim seizing third by hitting the line in 48.15, while Gormley landed in tenth (50.24).
Benjamin Dench (29th - 53.44),
Tim Gross (35th - 55.05) and
Sean Harris (37th - 55.42).competed in the event as well. Regan came back to the track when the hurdles were laid out at the same distance and clocked in at 59.10 for 13th, while
Nathan Caldwell earned 18th (1:01.63).Â
Distance
The 800m was where
Owen Buroker made his presence known with an eighth-place finish stopping the timer on 1:58.13, followed by
Matthew Gareau (15th - 1:59.32),
Amos Liles (18th - 1:59.74),
Travis Knaggs (35th - 2:08.48) and
Max Collins (38th - 2:10.95).
Dickinson was led during the 1500m by
Avi Ghorai who just missed the Top-10 in eleventh thanks to a 4:06.31.
Tyler Erdmann (22nd - 4:20.46),
Andrew Edwards (26th - 4:31.00),
Matthew Colden (28th - 4:31.57) and
Jack Solovey (31st - 4:38.44) were involved in the event as well.
The Red and White put two athletes on the track for the 3000m steeplechase with
Nolan Meincke and Caldwell taking fourth (9:45.25) and fifth (9:48.10) respectively.
Relays
The team of Akabi-During, Crim, Gormley and O'Connor took home fourth during the 4x100m stopping the clock at 41.84.
A pair of Dickinson squads did battle in the 4x400m with Buroker, Gareau, Gross and Harris grabbing fifth (3:28.95), while Colden, Collins, Edwards and Solovey collected eighth (3:48.28).
Field
At the throwing area,
Damon Buchanan claimed 11th for the javelin with a toss of 50.39m.
Greenley was the only member of the Red and White to do battle during the pole vault clearing 3.10m to seize 20th.
Next on the Track
The Red Devils return to action next Saturday for the Paul Kaiser Classic hosted by Shippensburg University beginning at 9am.
