Devils Battle at Both Messiah and Bucknell on Saturday Afternoon

Messiah Invite
GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Dickinson men's outdoor track and field team picked up numerous Top-10 results en route to taking second place on Saturday afternoon at the Messiah University Invite taking place on the Starry Outdoor Track.

Sprints
Matthew Greenley was the only DC athlete on the track for the 100m nabbing 24th with an 11.73. With hurdles laid out at 110m Brendan Regan stayed inside the Top-10 with a ninth-place finish following his time of 16.80.

The 200m saw William O'Connor hit the line in 23.07 to claim 14th, followed by Tim Gross (52nd - 24.64), Greenley (53rd - 24.69), Sean Harris (54th - 24.77) and Benjamin Dench (56th - 24.81). 

Franklyn Akabi-During kept his memorable rookie campaign going by winning the 400m at 49.09, which just barely edged out teammate Darian Crim in second (49.27). Just missing the Top-5 was Owen Buroker who seized sixth thanks to a 50.38. Both Ian Gormley and Brendan Regan earn Top-20 slots occupying 12th (51.91) and 16th (52.85). The trio of Dench (28th - 54.74), Gross (33rd - 55.23) and Harris (34th - 55.32) also took part in the event.

Distance
James Masterson rounded out the podium for the 800m thanks to hitting the line at 1:57.41. Three other Devils landed within the Top-20: Amos Liles (13th - 2:02.18), Avi Ghorai (15th - 2:02.68) and Matthew Gareau (18th - 2:02.95). Five other athletes competed during the race as Tyler Erdmann, Evan Feldman, Max Collins, Matthew Colden and Jack Solovey claimed places 45th (2:12.20), 47th (2:12.32), 54th (2:14.23), 72nd (2:22.27) and 73rd (2:22.98). 

Ghorai would then be the highest finishing member of the Red and White during the 1500m hitting the line in 4:12.43 for ninth. The quartet of Erdman (39th - 4:27.83), Colden (41st - 4:29.16), Feldman (58th - 4:37.76), Collins (59th - 4:39.73) and Solovey (72nd - 4:47.30) were all involved in the race as well.

William Kane made his first race of the day a good one as he grabbed sixth for the 5000m with a time of 15:57.23.

Dickinson sent four athletes out to compete in the 10,000m with Matthew Dietrick winning the race in 31:12.42, while Mason Macek completed the podium thanks to a 32:35.27. The duo of Edward Liszka and Romario Cruz occupied 12th (34:11.21) and 13th (34:13.21) respectively.

Field
The team of Akabi-During, Crim, Gormley and O'Conner claimed second in the 4x100m by crossing the line in 42.23. Dickinson also collected second for the 4x400m with a 3:29.34 thanks to Buroker, Gareau, Liles and Masterson. 

Field
In the throws, Oliver Stroka was the lone Devil for the discus taking up 33rd with a throw of 32.44m. He then found himself scooping up second in the hammer thanks to a mark of 52.00m. Damon Buchanan earned a Top-5 place during the javelin by grabbing fifth at 51.98m. 

Special
Josh Penny went to work for Dickinson in the decathlon claiming eighth with 3804 points. His best event would be the 1500m where he finished second with a time of 5:02.37.

Team Scores
The host Messiah University took the team crown with 138.5 points, followed in the Top-10 by Dickinson and Lebanon Valley (74), Mount St. Mary's (72), Gettysburg (67), Penn State T&F Club (67), Frostburg State (53.5), York (Pa.) (31.5), Elizabethtown (28) and Franklin & Marshall (25).

Bucknell Outdoor Classic
LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Dickinson men's outdoor track and field team also sent a select group to Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium for battle in the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic.

The Red and White primarily sent distance runners to the meet with Trevor Richwine and Jeremy Sallade competing in the 800m occupying third (1:49.83) and 50th (1:55.90) respectively in a 141-athlete field made up of competitors from all three divisions. Nolan Meincke then went to work in the 1500m earning ninth thanks to a time of 3:57.37. The Devils had a quartet of athletes involved in the 5000m with Brock Overlander claiming the top spot by hitting the line in 14:53.74. He was joined within the Top-10 by Nathan Caldwell and Luke Knestout who nabbed eighth (15:07.88) and ninth (15:08.69). Benjamin Moseman was the final DC competitor in the event taking 26th with a 15:34.63.

Next on the Track
The Red Devils will venture down to Shippensuburg University on Wednesday afternoon to take part in the Ship Mid-Week Invite beginning at 3pm.
