HARRISBURG, Pa. - The Dickinson softball team rebounded quite nicely from a rough Sunday on Tuesday afternoon by picking up a non-conference doubleheader sweep over the host Penn State-Harrisburg Lions at Pollock Field. The Red and White did just enough in game one to claim a 2-1 win, before pounding out 15 hits in a convincing 12-4 triumph in game two.

Inside the Game
- Dickinson gave themselves chances to strike in both the first and second innings as Jessie Sandusky and Jane Lloyd collected singles in the first, but were unable to come all the way around. Then, in the second Elizabeth Raefski reached on a two-out infield single, before unfortunately Grace Dibuono-Krafick grounded out to retire the side against Miller.
- On the defensive side, McMahon allowed a leadoff walk in the first and a two-out triple in the third, fortunately, she was able to pitch around both runners to keep it scoreless into the third.
- The Red and White would get on the board during the top of the third as Sandusky produced a leadoff single to right. Then, after advancing to third thanks to a stolen base and PSU error, Eden Blanker provided a sacrifice fly to right plating her for the 1-0 lead into the home-half.
- Two singles and a walk put McMahon in a massive bind with no outs. However, she barred down hard and came up with a pair of infield pop-ups and a swinging strikeout to end the frame.
- After the next two innings went by without a threat from either side, Dickinson stepped into the box for the top of the sixth. Miller set down the first two hitters in order, before a single by Marah Goldman and an error allowing Lauren Routzahn to reach put runners on the corners for Abby Kohan. She would lace a pitch through the right-side to plate Goldman and make it 2-0. Raefski then followed with a single to load the pillows, but Miller found her nerve and recorded a strikeout to end the rally.
- PSU mounted one last charge during 'last call" in the seventh as Emily Cutman opened the inning with a homer. Then, after a popout by Kierstyn Smith, Mackenzie Fisher lashed a triple to left putting the tying run just 60-feet away with one down. However, a popped up bunt and a strikeout closed out a strong performance for McMahon and earned her the win.

Inside the Game
- The first two frames went by with neither side being able to get anything going offensively as Kohan and Smith kept the teams at bay.
- After the first two batters were set down in the top of the third, a single by Lloyd and an error allowing Blanker to reach set the stage for McMahon to smack an RBI single to left-center for a 1-0 lead. Goldman then stepped into the box and deposited a two-run single to center pushing the gap to 3-0.
- The Lions trimmed one off the margin during the last of the third when with two away when Madisen Minnery produced an inside the park home run off of Kohan. The next batter would single up the box, but Kohan then induced a pop-up to the catcher ending the inning.
- A base hit for Kohan, double by Laia Gwathmey and an error letting Sandusky reach filled the pillows with just one down. Lloyd extended the lead to 4-1 with a knock to right, before McMahon cleared the cushions on a single into right field which made it 8-1.
- However, the Lions once again found an immediate response after the Red and White got on the board as an error and a single by Sims cut it down to 8-2 entering the fifth.
- Following a quiet fifth for both teams each side found the scoresheet in the sixth. First, in the top-half a single by Gwathmey and a walk had two on with one gone for Blanker. She secured a clutch base-hit to right scoring Gwathmey. Then, in the bottom-half, a triple, double and a single led to the Lions getting two back across home plate to cut it down to 9-4 with an inning to go.
- Singles from Routzahn, Kohan and Kaylie Renner loaded the bags for Gwathmey. She would be responsible for making it 10-4 with a fielder's choice, before Lloyd came up with a two-run single for the 12-4 edge and forcing the Lions into their final chance.
