Devils Topple Dutchmen in Fall Opener

ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's tennis team opened up the Cole Sutton era on Saturday afternoon with a strong 6-1 non-conference win over the host Lebanon Valley College at the Shankroff Tennis Center.

Doubles (DEVILS 3-0) (One Point)
The first and third pairs had little issue in picking up wins as the top team of Jenna Crain and Natasha Sharnoff as well as the third unit with Izzy Desjardins and Chloe Heller collected 6-2 victories. The middle duo of Alisa Steele and Loretta Szych had a much tougher fight on their hands against Erika Badner and Katie Berra, but came out on the right side of a 7-6 decision.

Singles (DEVILS 6-0)
The only match to need more than the required two sets was at the number three spot where Heller held off Badner 6-7, 7-6, 6-1. In the top slot, Crain brought down Sarah McComas fairly convincing 6-0, 6-2, while a rung later Steele and Catherine Stone played to the same scoreline just in reverse with the Devil going 6-2, 6-0. Sharnoff (4th) allowed Berra to nab just four games in a 6-1, 6-3 win, followed by Szych (5th) who went 6-2, 6-3 over Jenna Miner. The only LVC win came at six where Laken Kelly held off Desjardins (3-6, 4-6).

The First Serve
Dickinson (1-0) will get back at it next Saturday when they head to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Fall Regionals hosted by the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
