CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson football team out-gained the host William Patterson University 396 to 204 and used a stellar defensive effort to help score points in every quarter en route to a convincing 24-0 non-conference win over the Pioneers on Saturday afternoon at Wightman Stadium.
- After a defensive stand on the first drive of the game the Dickinson offense went to work 92-yards away from the endzone. A pair of Presley Egbers passes to Rocco DiRico coupled with a pair of QB runs moved the rock out to the DC31. That was when Egbers found Braden White for 41 yards, before Cedric Benning III ran down to the WP13. Egbers then found Bobby Markey for a touchdown and the 7-0 (Justin Worobel kick) lead after one.
- The early part of the frame would see the two sides exchange punts which would put the ball back in the Devils hands with 8:07 left and looking at first down on their own 20.
- A pass to Markey advanced the drive to the DC32, before a pair of Benning runs pushed the rock out near the DC40. Completions to both Frederik Fjeldseth and Markey made it 1st & 10 on the WP41. That was when Benning took over as rushes of 37 and four yards had DC in the endzone with a 14-0 lead (Worobel kick).
- Two minutes into the frame the Pioneers had the ball on their own 30. Four straight carries by Isaac Cherry had it out to the WP45 and looking at third down. Connor Katz would hook up with Kyree Hinton for four yards, but Cole Catalano poked the ball out of bounds setting up 4th-and-three. Katz and the offense stayed on the field, but were unable to convert.
- With just under seven minutes left the Devils had first down on the DC22. Three carries by Benning III and passes from Egbers to both Benning and Fjeldseth had the Red and White up to the midfield stripe. Three plays later the visitors were in the endzone as Egbers connected with Markey for a 40-yard TD strike and a 21-0 (Worobel kick) advantage through three.
- Rushes from Benning III of four and 20 yards had Dickinson setup with 1st & 10 on the WP41 to begin the quarter. Egbers then hit Keesean Campbell for 21 yards (WP20), but then a negative run, a DC penalty and sack of Egbers left the Devils looking at 3rd-and-34 back on the WP44. However, a pass to Dane Sorensen for 18 gave the guests the opportunity to send out Kieran O'Neill for a 43-yard field goal which he stuck to make the 24-0 final.
