CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson baseball team was the victim of some unfortunate bounces and strong pitching performances from the visiting Franklin & Marshall College on Tuesday afternoon as the Diplomats knocked off the Red and White by a score of 9-3 at MacPhail Field.

Inside the Game
F&M got on the board in the top of the first as as two singles put men on the corners with two gone for Bobby Falese. Unfortunately, for Hamilton he produced one of the many early infield singles in the game for the visitors with a spinning cueshot out to third plating the first run of the game. However, Dickinson was back on even terms during the home-half when a double for
Ryan Thompson coupled with an error to move him up to third put one on with two away. That led to
Kaden Sigmon smacking an RBI single to right making it 1-1. F&M would use two singles in the second to reclaim a 2-1 edge, before a double, single and fielder's choice during the fourth pushed the margin to 3-1. With one on in the Dickinson half of the fourth, Galef came in for starter Kiernan Keller and got a popout from
Josh Markley as well as a groundout by
Christian Kim to retire the side. Singles off the sticks of Drew Butera and AJ Desautels in the fifth gave way to a two-run single for Andrew Filippelli to open up a four-run cushion 5-1 through five. A hit batter, single and wild pitch off of DC reliever
Brian Riley in the sixth let the Diplomats make it 6-1. Walks to
Matt Torres and
Johnny Bruno during the last of the frame gave the home side a chance, but back-to-back flyouts for Markley and Kim ended any potential rally.
Matteo George went to the hill for Riley to open up the seventh and he hit some trouble as two walks and a hit batter filled the cushions with one down for Patrick Cettina. He would face the second arm of the frame for the Devils when
Nathan Weisoly entered the fray. He struckout the first man he saw, but then surrendered a pair of bases-loaded walks to make it 8-1 heading to the stretch. Will O'Connor was the next man out of the pen for the Diplomats and he walked
Luke Gartland to begin his outing. He then watched two groundouts and a wild pitch bring him across trimming it down to 8-2.
Zach Wernick allowed the ninth run of the contest in the eighth when Falese took him over the wall in left. Dickinson scratched one more across during the bottom-half when a double by Torres and walk to Bruno set the stage for an RBI single up the box by Markley, but the Red and White could get no more in that inning and then went down in order during the ninth.
