HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Dickinson women's tennis team continued their unblemished start to their Spring Break trip on Wednesday afternoon by edging out Catholic University by a score of 5-4 at Chaplin Park.Â
Doubles (Cardinals 2-1)
Dickinson's lone win was at number two where
Sara Jaklitsch and
Dana Kleinman brought down Paige Brightwell and Meaghan Laniewski by a score of 8-4. The other two matches required tiebreakers as the top unit of
Alisa Steele and
Bonnie Thomas fell 7-8 (5-7) to Ava Niggemeier and Mairead O'Hara.
Maddie Lindquist and
Molly Michel went down 7-8 (1-7) against Jane Krukiel and Marissa Stambaugh.
Singles (DEVILS 4-2)
Steele got the Devils off to an impressive start in singles by completely blanking Krukiel by scores of 6-0, 6-0 to level the match at 2-2. Thomas followed at two with another straight set victory 6-3, 6-4 against Laniewski. After Michel dropped the opening set to Brightwell 1-6, she rallied back with a 6-4 win in the second before posting a 10-3 super tiebreak win. Dickinson then capped off the match win for the Red and White with Kleinman going 6-2, 6-2 over O'Hara to take a 5-2 win. The Cardinals closed the match with a super tiebreak (13-11) win at five over Jaklitsch, while Lindquist suffered a straight set loss to Stambaugh in the sixth slot (3-6, 2-6).

Dickinson (5-1) is back on the court tomorrow afternoon at 12:30pm when they faceoff with Meredith College at Hilton Head High School.Â
