GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Dickinson men's swimming team closed out the 2024 portion of their schedule on Saturday by finishing off their time at the Gettysburg College Invite at Bullets Pool. The Red and White ended the two-day meet in third thanks to picking up a few wins and a number of Top-10 finishes, in addition to breaking a school record.
The Devils kicked off the morning session with a bang as the unit of
Nolan Chenot,
Daulton Kendall,
Samson Qu and
James Wright posted the winning time of 1:32.06 during the 200-yard medley relay.
Dickinson put four athletes in the Top-10 of the 400-yard individual medley with
Alexander Kanard claiming the final podium spot with a 4:21.74, while
Paul Florio,
Matthew Ferenz and
Benjamin Brandt collected fourth (4:22.13), seventh (4:26.71) and eighth (4:26.82).
In a large field for the 100-yard butterfly Qu was the highest finishing Devil taking fifth by getting to the wall in 51.15.
Andrew Kelley nabbed 11th (52.05), followed by Chenot in 16th (53.12),
Lukas Nier grabbed 19th (53.61) and
Jace Pedicone clocked in at 55.05 for 21st.
Aidan Keillor earned a seventh-place result in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:46.12.
Damon Buchanan and
Jack Engel also competed and locked up 14th (1:50.53) and 15th (1:50.63).
Dickinson nabbed their second win of the day during the 100-yard breaststroke with
Justin Wong clocking in at 57.69, while
Joe Apat and Chenot landed in 8th (1:00.75) and 12th (1:01.77) respectively.
A duo of Devils went to the pool for the 100-yard backstroke where Wright earned second thanks to a 50.79, followed by
Frederico Colloca-Bianchi eighth (54.45).
The 800-yard freestyle relay saw the team of Kanard, Kelley, Kendall and Wright take second with a 6:59.00, while Apat, Brandt, Florio and Nier secured sixth (7:21.15).
Dickinson began the evening portion with four athletes taking part in the 1650-yard freestyle. Brandt was the lone Devil inside the Top-10 clocking in at 17:16.03 for ninth. The trio of Kanard, Buchanan and Ferenz occupied 11th (17:21.24), 13th (17:24.63) and 14th (17:27.68).
Wright finished off the podium for the 200-yard backstroke by getting to the wall in 1:51.48. Colloca-Bianchi fell just outside the Top-5 in sixth thanks to a 1:57.94.
Qu took home a second-place result during the 100-yard freestyle by stopping the clock in 46.48, while Kendall joined him in the Top-10 as his 47.10 locked up sixth. Engel and Nier secured 15th (48.94) and 18th (49.09) respectively.
The Red and White claimed first and third for the 200-yard breaststroke thanks to Apat (2:08.89) and
Justin Wong (2:11.31). Keillor completed the trio of Devils in the Top-5 with a time of 2:12.80 (5th).
Chenot and Florio finished within a second of each other during the 200-yard butterfly posting marks of 2:02.32 (7th) and 2:03.18 (8th).
Jace Pedicone reached the wall in 2:12.39 for 14th.
The meet ended with the team of Kendall, Qu, Wright and Wong earning second for the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:08.25, while Chenot, Engel, Kanard and Nier clocked in at 3:17.94 to grab seventh.
Team Scores
The host Gettysburg College won the meet with a score of 947.5, followed by Montclair State (782.5), RED DEVILS (751), Shippensburg (429) and Scranton (278).

Next on the Pool Deck
The Red and White will now take an extended break for the holiday season as they will not return to competitive action until Wednesday, January 15th when they take on both Hood College and York College of Pennsylvania. The meet will begin at 5:30pm at York College.
