Devils Begin CC Play by Scaring Off Green Terror in OT

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's basketball team overcame a slow start on Wednesday night to collect a 48-45 overtime win over the visiting McDaniel College Green Terror in the Centennial Conference opener for both sides inside the Kline Center.

Template - 1st Quarter
  • The visitors were out of the gates quick taking an 8-2 lead over the the opening three minutes as Ella Smith picked up the lone bucket for the Red and White.
  • After a scoreless two minutes, a three-ball from Clair Marion along with contributions by Emma Landes and Smith pulled DC to within 13-10.
  • Peyton Tague and Jenna Weinstein traded baskets during the final 74 seconds to leave MC ahead 15-12.
Template - 2nd Quarter
  • Two free throws each for Abby John and Weinstein helped the Devils to claim six of the first eight points to claim their first lead of the game at 18-17 with 5:52 left.
  • The rest of the quarter only saw two more buckets both by the Green Terror as Lil Overcash and Carli Vogel made it 22-18 at the break.

  • The first two minutes went by without any points until Elaina Beckett took a steal coast-to-coast, before back-to-back layups for Landes and Weinstein left DC behind by two (24-22).
  • Five consecutive points by Overcash pushed the gap to 29-22, but Clare Cronley split a pair at the charity stripe during the final minute to leave the Red and White down 29-23 with 30 minutes in the books.

  • A triple by Marion began the period and then was followed with baskets for Landes and Weinstein to give DC a slim 32-31 advantage with 4:18 gone.
  • The duo of Lauren Cavoli and Lizzie McGrath traded shots from downtown to keep the home side ahead (35-34) inside of four minutes to play.
  • The rest of the scoring was down at the charity line as Raegan Lenz and Beckett each split a pair for MC, while Weinstein went one-of-two to force overtime at 36-36.
  • An "old-fashioned" three-point play for Weinstein along with a pair of Cronley free thrown made it 41-36 home team with 1:09 gone.
  • Dickinson would hold on from the free throw line the rest of the way as Cronley knocked down all six of her chances, while Landes went one-of-two allowing the Devils to claim the 48-45 win.
