BALTIMORE - The sixth-seeded Dickinson women's basketball team knew they faced a tall task on Friday night in the Centennial Conference Semifinals as they traveled back to Johns Hopkins University for the second time in less than a week. Through 20 minutes things were looking up for the Red and White as they were locked up with the 13th-ranked and top-seeded Blue Jays at 25-25. However, the home side outscored the Devils 24-15 during the third which put them ahead for good as they closed out a 63-51 win at Goldfarb Gymnasium.
- The two sides were even early on as Mia Chapman and Jenna Weinstein tallied for the Red and White to leave it at 4-4, before Kendall Dunham hit a three out of the near corner with 3:45 gone.
- A pair of Chapman free throws and a driving finish at the rim by Caitlin Blackman off the Clair Marion steal and helper trimmed the gap to just 9-8 with 3:13 remaining leading to a JHU timeout.
- Dickinson came out of the brief rest strong with baskets from Abby John, Chapman and Weinstein leading a 7-3 push to give the Devils a 15-12 advantage with 8:19 gone.
- However, Hopkins closed with six of the final eight as an Abby John layup accounted for the only DC bucket making it 18-17 Jays through one.
- The opening two-plus minutes belonged to the guests with Clare Cronley and Chapman notching two each to go ahead 21-18, but once again Dunham answered with a trey to knot the score at 21.
- Over the next five minutes, Dickinson would go up by four at 25-21 thanks to scores by Victoria Zerbe and Blackman.
- JHU would soar to the tie heading into the half as Macie Feldman knocked home two jumpers in the final minute.
- Hopkins came out of the locker room strong as Jadyn Murray and Feldman each scored within the opening two minutes to go ahead 31-26.
- Dickinson used the following couple of minutes to chip into the deficit with two at the charity line from Chapman along with layups for Weinstein and Zerbe made it 35-32 with 5:31 left.
- Back-to-back three-balls by Feldman and Layla Henderson, coupled with a basket for Greta Miller capped a 12-4 run from Hopkins to extend their lead to 47-36 at the 7:49 mark.
- Jumpers out of the hands of Blackman and Zerbe finished the scoring in the frame for the Red and White as the game entered the fourth at 49-40.
- For the second straight quarter the home side went on an early 9-2 run as tallies for Michaela O'Neil, Grace Soltes, Dunham and Miller stretched the gap to 58-42 at the halfway point of the frame.
